    Can't remove pool pump lid

Thanks! I did try something like that with a different tool, but it didn't work. I'll try the pliers and see if they work better.

    Can't remove pool pump lid

Oh cool, I will check with my local pool store. Thanks! I thought about using a hammer to kind of get it loose (like kicking it) but I don't want to break it!

    Can't remove pool pump lid

Hi Guys. I was wondering if you can give me any advice on how to remove my pool pump lid. I never had a problem before until I replaced the filters in my DE pump. At the same time I put silicone lubricant on the O ring for the filter itself, I did the same thing (apparently stupidly) for the...

    Help with filter

OK, here's my pool: That's not really a duck in the pool but a duck decoy my kids found in the garage and thought would be hilarious to float in the pool. And a close up: I just finished sweeping so the water is pretty cloudy. BUT! The filter is working. :D

    Help with filter

Thanks!! I'm feeling better now that I'm understanding a little bit more about pools/pumps. Awesome! I'll do that as soon as I can. I wanted to take a pic of the pool this morning, but it's raining! :( I wasn't expecting rain at all, it was nice and sunny yesterday. Ugh.

It would have to wait until my next pay check at least. Pathetic, but true. :(

    Help with filter

OK, I will take a pic tomorrow and show you my shame! It's actually not green, but it's probably headed that way. There's a lot of leaves and dirt in the pool. There was A LOT more before, but I've been cleaning it out. I looked at the pool school and the test kits that are...

    Help with filter

I lied, I took a flashlight out there and looked. I know this seems neurotic, but I'm so afraid of the filter blowing up that initially I didn't want to do it because the sticker's on the back of the pump motor and I have to stand back there and stick my head down to look. But I did it...

    Help with filter

OK, I did this and the water seems to be flowing out of the jets etc. It's running at about 21 PSI right now. It's dark now so I can't find the number, but I'll check it first thing in the morning. Thanks guys!

    Help with filter

OK, I cleaned out the pump basket, which was full of leaves and stuff, so I think that was the problem. Put water in it and closed the lid. Started the pump, and the PSI jumped to 20. Shut it off and opened the bleeder valve to release the air. Turned the pump back on and it jumped to 20...

Hi everyone! Yes, I'm a pool newbie, I inherited a pool (came with a house) and I have no idea how to take care of it. I have already gotten some great advice in the Just Getting Started forum and I'm SO GLAD I found this site! Thank God for the internet. Anyway, just wanted to introduce...

    Help with filter

An air bleed valve on top of the filter itself? I believe so, but I'll take a gander at it when I get home... might have more questions about that later. I'll also check the valves, but I think they are both set to "open".

    Help with filter

The lid on the pump being the "pump basket" as referenced above? This is great guys. Keep it coming. I'll do this first thing tonight when I get home.

    Help with filter

The thing with the clear lid... I did not see water going through it. Should I open it and see what's going on in there? I cleaned out the skimmer (it was full of leaves), the basket is in there, and water is in it, but no noticeable water movement. Oh, and I live in the Phoenix area, it's...

    Help with filter

Thanks! Fear is definitely an issue with this, but I will attempt to overcome it one step at a time. Things that can explode scare the heck out of me as I once experienced an explosion and was injured. I need to print out the manual tomorrow (no printer available at the moment) and read the...

    Help with filter

As you can tell by my username, I am a total pool newbie. So new, in fact, that I don't even know how many gallons are in my pool or how to even figure that out. I inherited my parent's house which came with a pool, and I have NO IDEA what to do with it. The filter doesn't seem to be working...
