Hayward Pro Grid DE filter — elbow inlet question

I’ve been getting a lot of residual powder at the bottom of the pool, so naturally the first thing I checked was my filter assembly. I was cleaning out my D.E. filter this weekend and had all the grids replaced together because almost all of them had busted “ribs” in the same location. What I’m...

Strange growths on surface as of late

The chlorinator has not been refilled yet. Though i do smell that lovely heavy chlorine smell when I turn the system on, so maybe there's a little. I will check out those kits, thanks.

Strange growths on surface as of late

I've been having some strange growths along the sides and floor of my pool, which I'm assuming to be gunite. More recently: An algae-like substance, that takes a lot more work to scrub off than the usual buildup during SLAMing, which I just completed a few days ago. It's also more brown. I...

Pentair Minimax 400 main supply/return header is cracked

Thanks for the input. I generally agree with your approach as the heater is likely approaching its end of life. At the moment, we're just trying to make our money go a little further for the next 2 years or so, and the prices to replace and install, plus service fees, are a little higher than I...

Pentair Minimax 400 main supply/return header is cracked

After turning on my equipment at the pad this afternoon and subsequently proceeding to re-enact the surf scene from Escape from L.A. with Kurt Russell and Peter Fonda, I have determined that the main supply/return header of my Minimax 400 is cracked. Has this ever happened to anyone? This...

Pentair Intellibrite 5g vs. Hayward ColorLogic 4.0

The reviews on the Pentair systems seem to be a lot more positive than the Hayward ColorLogic gear. I asked for an itemized quote from my local dealer and what they wanted blew my mind compared to what I can get these for on Prime. I could probably do it all myself but as you know Pentair...

Pentair Intellibrite 5g vs. Hayward ColorLogic 4.0

Not sure at the moment. The light assembly itself is a Pac-fab 61-8230, but I'll have to look and see if I can find some markings inside. Don't recall seeing anything before.

Pentair Intellibrite 5g vs. Hayward ColorLogic 4.0

Bleh. I have heard this before but wasn't sure what was considered a long period of time to have a pool empty. I've had it drained for 3-4 weeks. This is my most recent measurement I can find, but as it says, that was a month ago. I am scared now. Maybe it's time to shelve the light plans for...

Pentair Intellibrite 5g vs. Hayward ColorLogic 4.0

Have been browsing individual threads on each of these products and just thought I'd start my own thread with a more specific format to gather info that highlights the pros and cons of each. I have emptied my pool and want to install one in the pool and spa, but am stuck between the two. I have...
