A question...does the mesh of the grids wear out, ie will worn mesh allow DE to pass thru? My grids are about 7 yrs old, but physically they look fine.

I have an old Letro (Pentair) pool cleaner that I have replaced with a Polaris 280. The Letro had a great bag that has a snap clip type opening to remove debris. Is there any way of adapting that type of bag to the P280?

I also noticed there are some additional steps to remove the debris. Seems like just dumping the debris or removing a sock is easier & quicker. Just my $.02

Thanks, that's what I'm using now. What I would really like is a hair net compatible, weighted basket that has a folding handle(s), that also doesn't get in the way of the hair net.

Well, that's how I lost the handle (straight stainless rod) on my basket...had to remove it to put a skimmer sock in it. Somehow I misplaced it.

Lost the handle on my pentair basket so I want to replace it since it now floats up. Looks like there are hundreds available, but several caught my eye on Amazon, the Skimmer Doctor, and a mesh basket (not the hair net). Do you have a favorite?

Update: tried it again and the motor just hums, will not start. :(

So, it looks like a new motor is in order. :( I there a recommendation as to a replacement unit? How much knowledge is required to replace it? Thanks!

Being an engineer, I tend to overthink these things, however, being a neophyte pool owner, I don't want to do something stupid either. Going back to the aluminized radiant barrier, wouldn't it block light as well as keeping the pool from heating up, at least that's how I see it. Wrong?

It would seem like the aluminized radiant barrier material used in attic applications would work for this application as well. There's probably a good reason why it wouldn't, but it beyond my understanding.

In theory, I think I need a white bubble cover to "close" my pool for the summer (Texas). Can't seem to find any answers online, but there has to be a need for summer covers, here, AZ, FL. Any ideas?

Curious...what would be the objection to using a stenner type chlorinator/tank that is designed to chlorinate well water for drinking ?

What ever happened to this idea? I thought it was a great idea for us in the lower 48!

I'm curious, as I'm in the same area with roughly the same pool configuration, what targets do you have (FC, CC, CYA, PH)? I'm new to pools, so when i tested and re-tested the CYA was high >150. I dumped 1/2 the pool and I'm now at about 100. Maybe I need to dump again, but my FC is holding...
