Living on the Gulf, dealing with Black Spot Algae

My pool is open and 20 ft away from a canal on the Gulf of Mexico. Gulls, Egrets, ducks and Herons are frequent visitors. So is Black Spot Algae. I am currently fighting the 2nd infestation this summer. Is there any precautions I can take beyond frequent testing, weekly brushing, and keeping...

SWG shows salt at 2900, test kit shows 4000

I've checked the salt levels with a Taylor K-1766 kit and also with test strips - both show ~ 4000- 4500. The AquaRite generator reads 2900. When its reading drops below 2700 it stops generating chlorine. Is it possible to re-calibrate the AquaRite generator, or do I need a new sensor? Thanks...

how and how strong should pump run?

Water looks great, chemistry is very good, no bromides - yet. But I've no idea how long to run the pump. Right now it's on from 7:30AM to 11AM @ 48.6% and from 11AM tp 5PM @ 70.7%. These are the settings the pool people set up. I have no idea whether it is too long or too short. I run the SWG...

Total Alkalinity - my test vs Pool Supply Store

I'm new and just received my TF 100 kit. I tested the chemicals and then, as a check took them to my local Pool Supply Store for their analysis. We differed in Total Alkalinity - I found it at 100 yesterday, then rechecked today and it read 90 (I probably did it wrong yesterday). The pool store...
