Now that I am using the ZeoSand, it's supper fine (so it just looks bad). It was gritty before when using normal sand. And again, I tried two different pumps with the same result.

Yes. I was kidding. After switching to ZeoSand, I ended up just mostly getting fine dust in the pool and it settles to the bottom of the pool and looks horrible... I read another forum from a few years ago where someone else had the same problem and just ended up using a sock over the return...

I'm guessing you won't have a problem considering you have a much larger pool. I still think it has to do with height. Not 100% sure though. And I have no clue what I can do to fix it where it won't cost to much. I'm also in a rental home, so o can't relandscape the place lol :)

Again, second filer, same issue and using HTH sand. I already inspected the laterals and no issues were found except sand going through them.

Well, added pea rock at the bottom. It appears to have helped reduce the amount of sand, but still some is coming in. And I fear the longer I run it, the more that will come out because it's just filtering through the rock. So, now I have to deside if I should just leave it or do zeosand or...

ZeoSand is larger. That's why I may try this if this doesn't work. But, there have been reports of issues with it, so kinda scares me trying it. Plus it's more expensive to try than pea gravel and lowering the pump lol :). And I for one don't want to throw a bunch of money at it to try and...

When filling the bottom part with pea gravel, I fill it just enough to cover the laterals correct? And do I add water at the beginning just like I'm filling it with sand? Anything I need to be aware of?

"Zeo often needs a good ten minutes to half an hour of backwashing" HAHA!!! I wouldn't have enough water in my pool to do that with ZeoSand!!!! I only have a 10x30 pool!!!! So I'm back to square one. With no clue what's causing it and no clue how to fix it :(

Opps :) Didn't see cfclay's comment :) I filled it right in the middle of MIN/MAX. I am not sure what less sand would do. Maybe someone else would know the answer to that?

As promised, here are the pics. The pool water again, is just after running the pump for maybe 1 minute right after it was vacuumed completely clean! Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I guess I am confused as how pea gravel would stop sand from going through it. Isn't pea gravel bigger? So the sand would slip through it as well wouldn't it? If it worked, it probably would only work for a little bit until the sand reached through the gravel, then would start back up again...

It won't help! That's the problem I had. And I replaced the the sand with the HTH and still have the same problem. I am glad I am not alone though! Now if we could figure out how to fix the problem. And looking at your picture, you can see the holes are to big and sand can easily get...

Yes. I did turn the machine off before switching the valve and also ONLY turned it counter-clockwise as per the manual. The YouTube video showed the guy turning it both ways lol :). I won't be home till later this afternoon and I'll try and redo the picture at that point. Thanks everyone...

I did. For one minute just like the manual stated. Just another thought? Is it possible this is normal for a NEW sand filter? Maybe it'll get better over time? Or is this wishful thinking? LOL :)

Just so you have an idea of what I'm talking about... I vacuumed my pool out completely. Let the water settale just to make sure I got it all. And then ran the filter for about 1-2 min. This is what it looks like just after 1-2 minutes... (Hopefully you can make out the photo).

I verified it's correct. Water is being pulled from the correct side (the side with the strainer). And I also did cover the center pipe with the provided cover while pouring in the sand! :) Also, just FYI, when I emptied the original Sand Filter we had, I inspected the laterals and center...
