Can I slam every week to prevent algae ever returning

Thanks for the clarification. Then my CC is .5 - - - Updated - - - Still evaluating. I'll probably get a SWG eventually. 1st season was pucks. This season is liquid chlorine. I'll make my decision for the 3rd season. What I hope never to see again is Algae. BTW, I'm getting the chlorine for...

Can I slam every week to prevent algae ever returning

Tested FC again this evening and loss was 3 ppm for a full 24 hrs. FC 18 CC 1 (Yesterday's reading was 3 ppm plus the 1 ppm from the OCLT = 4 ppm) Pool temp is now 78. Full sun but very filtered through the fine mesh super screen. Yes my CC readings were .5 before the high...

Can I slam every week to prevent algae ever returning

I'll be doing a lot of testing and try to arrive at the proper amount of Chlorine to add every few days or more. Also I have to compare this to how much the 2.5 gal jugs deteriorate sitting outside or in the garage. I have 2 of these. Used one and transferred the other to 1 gallon jugs and have...

Can I slam every week to prevent algae ever returning

Thanks everyone for all the replies. At first it seemed like a good idea. Needsajet: What I didn't consider is the loss of FC at a more rapid pace at the higher levels. If I'm losing 2 ppm per day at lower FC chlorine levels will this increase to 3 ppm or 4 or more a day at higher levels?

Can I slam every week to prevent algae ever returning

Hi. Had my 1st appearance of green algae. I thought it was from pollen as robot vacuumed it easily. Here were my readings on 4/25 when I began noticing it: FC 4 TC 4.5 TA 60 CH 225 CYA 50 PH 7.5 I had been using pucks but have now stopped. Slammed FC up to 24 and it has only dropped FC 1 and...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club I've been using the pleated filter. Still don't know if the pleated is the fine filter. I have a screened pool cage and there are no leaves so I can't tell the difference. Wondering which filter everyone has been using.

How to connect Actuator without Automation

Intermatic support was no help to the Electrician. All they did was say to use their add on $200 P4043ME expansion Module which not only didn't work but would not fit in the connection box. The Electrician agreed with me that he would get a 24 volt transformer and connect the Actuator to it via...

How to connect Actuator without Automation

2 way or 3 way valves should work with the Pentair Actuator the PB supplied, just a matter of adjusting the stops. Not happy with the Pentair Actuators because the valve can't be moved without removing the actuator. Other brands can turn the valve by hand. But this is a minor inconvenience...

How to connect Actuator without Automation

Yes that is the actuator I have. It is for 3-way valves and has 3 wires. It fit and is now mounted on a 2-way Jandy Valve. I believe there are versions for 2-way valves, but it still should work if the cam limits are adjusted. My main problem is the wiring.

How to connect Actuator without Automation

My PB has one last thing to do and my pool will be finished. I finally got him to connect the deck jets to the feature pump where I wanted them. He installed a 2 way Jandy Valve in the plumbing going to the sheer waterfalls and it worked ok. Then he installed a Pentair CVA24 Actuator but...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club I've been using the pleated filter but the basic screen looks like it does an even better job. Might be the DE powder that it picked up. Which filter is best to use? The more expensive Dolphin S300 models have a different basket that...

    2016 bleach prices

Since Walmart raised price of their 1 gal. 10% Chlorine to $3.67 I am considering buying somewhere else. I can get 2.5 gal. refillable/exchange Chlorine much cheaper but have concerns. Pool Stores have 12% 2.5 gal. for around $5.00 but are about 10 miles from my home. Ace Hardware has 10% 2.5...

    New Pump Problems & Procedures

After 3 weeks of running, Bubbles in the Circulation Pump basket are gone even at the low 800 speed. I never mentioned that the 2nd pump, the Feature Pump for the Sheer Waterfalls had lots of bubbles even at the high speeds. Got that cured after I cleaned out the Pump basket. Found a 4" piece...

Does liquid chlorine have a half life

What percentage is the chlorine from pool stores and how fresh is it? The price is very reasonable for filling the 2.5 gallon containers. Pinch A Penny told me $5.00 after $7.00 deposit on container. I have a store very close by and that would be the only thing I'd buy from them other than...

Las Vegas Build - It's like butter

Thanks. Another good thing about being GC. You pay the subs directly. I pay the PB and have to wait for Lien Releases. I'm 99% built, 90% paid and only 70% Lien Releases.

Las Vegas Build - It's like butter

One thing I noticed is the the plumbing coming from the drains to the pump suction inlet. The installation instructions for my Pentair XF22005 Pump "recommends" 5x the pipe size for the distance from the elbow to the pump. My Circulation pump has 2.5" plumbing and about 12" so is ok. But my...
