    I sure did. I used some pipe dope in addition to the tape as well. I also went with a brass fitting so this doesn't happen again. Thanks again for the help!

    You called it, Dom! Took the top off and found the small hose lying there with a broken piece of barbed plastic inside. Makes sense that the heater was reporting no Flow while this was happening. This looks like a much easier fix than I initially anticipated. Thanks!

    I just went outside and noticed that my Summit Sum 5 heater is gushing water upwards from the bottom inlet pipe that appears to have some sort of small valve/opening on it. I've only owned this house and pool for about a year, so I'm not terribly familiar with the inner workings of the heater...
