    Small pump won't run cleaner

I did all the things he recommended as far as checking for suction side leaks and lubing the plugs. That's why I figured it was time to look into upgrading the equipment. Maybe If I shop around, I can find someone to pay who will fix my problem and be slightly less condescending to me!

    Small pump won't run cleaner

Thanks but I've done all that before so I guess it's just time to try pool companies and hope I get a knowledgeable repair person.

    Small pump won't run cleaner

OK, thanks! I'll prepare myself for a big bill! It will be worth it, though, if it makes it easier to keep the pool clean! :D

    Small pump won't run cleaner

It is a Baracuda G2. I picked it out because it is supposed to work with low-powered pumps. I have also used other brands with similar results. Believe me, I do close off the main drain and the other skimmer line to get it to run at all! The only thing that I can think to do is to replace the...

    Small pump won't run cleaner

It is a 20+ year old Hayward Super II. It does seem like it lost power after a couple of hurricanes in the mid-90s. The impeller has been changed and it didn't seem to result in much improvement. I am willing to buy a new pump also if that is necessary. Would a 20+ year old sand filter need...

    Small pump won't run cleaner

Split by moderator from HERE. Please start your own thread for your own questions. Thanks, jblizzle I looking for similar information. I have a 3/4 HP motor that works fine for circulation, but will NOT run a pool cleaner. I even bought the lowest flow pool cleaner I could find reviewed, opened...

More powerful pump needed to run pool cleaner?

Yes, come to think of it, a repair person did have to reconfigure the pipes a bit because the pool builder installed the pump so close to the house that it was nearly impossible to work on the motor. That bend in the top pipe going from the pump to the sand filter didn't used to be like that. It...

More powerful pump needed to run pool cleaner?

OK, I looked at the motor label and the SF is 1.0. I tried vacuuming and blasting out the lines some more today and didn't really notice anything significant.

More powerful pump needed to run pool cleaner?

Super II does ring a bell. The labels are all very faded because the pump is about 20 years old. No, it hasn't been taken apart recently. I am concerned about a clogged suction line because it seemed like performance dropped after a hurricane put a lot of debris in the pool. The pump has been...

Air in dedicated vacuum line? Barracuda G2 stalling

I've got to admit that I didn't even know pumps had a drain plug either until I read about them on here recently. You can search pump diagrams online. It looks like they are located on the lower front part of the pump. Very small things! I will try lubing it and replacing the O-ring.

Air in dedicated vacuum line? Barracuda G2 stalling

Sorry, no advice, just sympathy! I'm having a similar problem. I posted about it on "Pumping Station" because I was questioning whether my pump motor was strong enough to run the cleaner. Mine doesn't stall (yet) unless the deflector gets caught under something, but it is all I can do to get...

More powerful pump needed to run pool cleaner?

Here are a couple of photos. The pump is old so I couldn't read the model number on the tag. The impeller was replaced a few years ago. Thanks for looking! Any ideas? Normal filter pressure is about 10 psi. It used to be about 13 many years ago. It drops to about 5 with the cleaner attached.

More powerful pump needed to run pool cleaner?

OK, I might have to wait until the weekend because I'm at work now and it has been raining every evening lately, but I'll look for model numbers and get some pics!

More powerful pump needed to run pool cleaner?

I was hoping someone could give me tips for running my pool cleaner effectively. I've been doing searches on the web and this forum to try to do some troubleshooting on my own. After bad experiences with a Hayward Navigator and a secondhand Polaris 360, I got tired of years of manual vacuuming...

Welcome to my world! It's rained buckets almost every day here since the beginning of the month! :(

No, more of a grudging admission that maybe I do know more about something than he does!

    Family planning

Yeah well, I take care of the pool and pretty much everything else around the house due to my husband's apathy about anything that doesn't involve computers, yet he still likes to be a know-it-all on pretty much every topic. When I comment on checking the pool's stabilizer, my husband is fond of...

    air in return lines

I'm having a similar problem. When I shut off the main drain to operate the pool cleaner, I have air in the pump basket. I'm afraid there might be some blockage in the skimmer lines and I'm not looking forward to trying to check that out! I will lube the O-ring, just in case, but I doubt that's...

How often do you pull critters out of your pool?

I used to have to pull large toads out of the pool all the time. Sometimes I'd get to them before they'd drown and sometimes not. I got a Frog Log and it really helped. My old one finally wore out so I ordered a new one last spring, but I haven't really felt the need to put it out yet. I'm only...

How To Pick A Diving Rock

Talk about form following function! Creative design! Those are some big scary rocks! We don't have rocks like that in Florida!

Dark round stain the size of quarter

Could something metal have blown in the pool? We had to have our roof replaced winter 2004 after a hurricane. The following month a storm blew some loose roofing nails into the pool and left stains much like those you describe. I just had to live with it until time to replace the liner. (Now!)

    Help with Polaris 360

Well, after doing more research and checking the system over again, I think my problem might be the back-up valve. I found a web site which says that it is supposed to cycle on and off, but more off than on! Mine stays on all the time. I think that is releasing too much pressure. And wouldn't...

    Help with Polaris 360

Thanks for replying! I'm not sure mine turn, though. I *thought* the whole thing just screws in, but I'll doublecheck later. We did install a smaller eye in the other return so that most of the flow goes out the one the cleaner hooks onto.

    Help with Polaris 360

My husband and I are trying to install a Polaris 360 which was given to us by one of his coworkers who filled in her storm-damaged pool. We first had to replace all the old feeder lines because they would split when we turned it on. This caused me to give up on it last year. Now we are having...
