    Pool remodel progress

Further on the skimmer subject. Call me old fashioned, but I expect the skimmer lid to be level with the deck, isn't that normal? This straight edge goes from the new coping to the existing deck. I would expect the top of the skimmer to be more or less level with the bottom of that straight...

    Pool remodel progress

I do have some concerns on a couple of items that I would really appreciate some feedback on. First is the cementing work that has been done in the main drain cut. Here is the overview of the work. I am no expert in cement work, but this to me looks like it has shrunk? Is it OK? Might...

Thanks all for the feedback, we have the 1.5" returns and on the suction side the main drain and skimmer are combined, but I do have a seperate vacuum line which should work fine for me. At this stage we have the plumbing completed, pressure tested good, coping is on with grout to come soon...

    Pool remodel progress

Hi Folks, I know that people like to follow along with projects, so I thought I would post some updates on my reno project. Just for a point of reference here is how the pool looked about a year ago, before it developed a leak. It's an old pool, by most peoples guesses probably built in the...

    Pool rebuild option confusion

Thanks Brian. Regarding the main drain, my understanding is that they would need to make a fairly large cut in the bottom of the gunite to run the PVC line. You advise against removing any material, does that apply at the bottom of the pool as well? Could there be any structural issues in...

    Pool rebuild option confusion

Hi, Our pool recently developed a leak, which appears to be related to a crack in the gunite. I have stopped adding water for the last couple of months, and turned off the pump. The water falls to a level which is above the return lines, and light and stays pretty steady. There is a crack...

    Hello from LA

Hi All, Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been a pool owner for the last 18 months, of which I have spent a lot of time reading these forums to get a handle on how to look after the pool better. With the advice from this forum, I was able to wean myself off the pool store and use only...
