A friend's pool results, and I am not sure what to do

technically all the test results are low except for cya.if it were me id start with pool math and figure out what you need to bring everything up to an appropriate level. my order would be fc, ph, ta, ch.

    Question about Alkalinity increasers

all my spas have liked 40 ta and all pools have liked 50 ta. that's where i get the least ph creep. you need to find out what ta your spa likes. my fill water is 80-90 ta and i can't go a day without seeing over 8 ph. with 40 i add the least amount of acid and by my next purge and drain i don't...

    Difficulty keeping pH down

i find any spa i run needs a ta of 40 to be very stable. all the pools seem to like 50 ta.

Help me adjust to maintaining a spa

nice tub man. with my ch under 200 i get more foam. my tub has no warranty so I'm not concerned with a manufacturer's recommendation. i aim for 250 ch. my fc i keep high and add bleach throughout the day. i have 30 cya in it. my tub is indoors and covered when im not using it. 3-6 times a day...

    Defoam in Spa?

in my tub i did raise ch to 350 and the foaming was less. i find now it only foams a bit after a long time without slamming it. i like to slam at least once a week. works for me. worth a try.

What do you keep your calcium level at?

when i ran a tiled hot tub i stayed around 250. worked good at that level. my inflatable tub i run around 175. our tap water is around 150-175. I've never had issues with foaming so i dont bother raising it at all. but none of my tubs have had warranty so im not concerned with that aspect.

    Can I check ozone level?

just to agree with the suggestion of ozone is glorified aeration, removing your cover should work even better. my little tub sits at 104 and gets pretty heavy usage. i use it at least 3 times a day. have used it up to 7 times one day. my little kids go in it twice a week. the wife twice a week...

    finally got my hot tub!

i forget the brand but it's a little floater one i got at my pool store. i always got the cheaper ones but they had non stainless parts in them and corroded in a few months. this one was more money but works great. i tested this thermometer with my multimeter. I'll try to get a name off of it.

    finally got my hot tub!

thanks for the replies guys! i have a good quality thermometer i float in the tub since i was wanting to be as precise at controlling my temperature. the tub actually reads 108 but it's actually 106. we use ours for minimal time but i like to multiple times a day. im still getting pretty quick...

    finally got my hot tub!

hey guys. finally got my hot tub. been looking for almost a year for the perfect one. it's a smaller inflatable tub but like i say to all my friends, it's all about the water not the device that holds it! of course like my pools i use the tfp method and of course the water is beautiful. was...

pH is good but TA is low

my saltwater commercial pool stayed at those exact numbers with very minimal acid. any change from that ph or ta used substantially more acid. you might have found your sweet spot.

Liquidator not keeping up with FC demand

I have a 18000l above ground. Its 9x18x4 and with 40 cya i dont loose more than 2ppm a day even with light swimming. Hot and sunny here. Pool gets all day long full sun. I think you have something eating it up too.

LaMotte ColorQ Pro-7 digital water test kit. Is it okay to use?

I used to use one and ended up with 600 ppm ch cause i kept adding it and adding it and the color q kept saying 120. Wanted around 250 so that kinda was frustrating. The pool was a 118000 litre pool so it was an expensive mistake. Never again will i use a non Taylor test kit.

hey guys. Just on my second day of opening the little above ground. Reading all the new posts. Unless i can't find it we should make a current test results thread. If we got one can you point me in the right direction.

    Salt water question

That little extra bit of salt will never hurt anything the only downfall could be you need to dilute a bit of pool water so the swg doesnt shut off from high salt. And liquid bleach does have a bit of salt in it so really you did add even more salt. I think pool math gives you the salt...

    Salt water question

Only issue i can see is if your swg gives a too much salt warning and doesn't generate chlorine.

    To add CYA or not

Not to puzzling i think. Where are you located? Sounds like you don't have to concentrated sun. With no cya i have seen my pool drop 4ppm of fc in an hour. That was cloudy day and no foreign objects in the pool. Well that i can see. Now ive also seen only 2ppm loss in two days with 40 cya. Have...

CYA at 20 TA at 50

Waaaaaay to high. The indoor spa i ran at 90 just to see and i had to add way to much muriatic. The spa at 60 was perfect. The indoor plaster also behaved great at 50. I tried 30 in the tub and ph creep was the same as 90.

CYA at 20 TA at 50

I run my above ground at 50 ta and cya at 40. Ph stays at 7.4 religiously. But thats my pool not yours :)

    To add CYA or not

You need to get cya in there since your fc will be 0 in a matter of minutes no matter how much bleach you dump in. Id use pool math and figure out how much cya to add to get it to 30-40 then add the appropriate amount of bleach as per pool math to start slam. Test every hour to keep the bleach...

Intex owners: did you leave yours up over the winter?

left my 18000L rectangle above ground up last winter and was a great idea. Just brought it up to slam level and drained it to below the ports and removed all the hoses and pumps and that was it. My pool is a saltwater pool. It was also a solid block of ice since our winters hover around -20c...

I think two intakes would be better. Pumps usually push better than suck. I would think that way would give better circulation.

Wife says we need to drain and start over

I keep my cya at 40. Works great for my little above ground. We dont get very intense sun here in alberta so 40 cya seems to be a perfect amount for me. I did try 30 and i did add a considerable amount of bleach compared to 40. I ran a commercial pool and tub along with my above ground using the...

    No CYA (on purpose)

i agree with the boys. my 18000 litre pool would cost me an arm and a leg with no cya. i run 40-50ppm cya. works good for me.

Can you identify this foamy nastiness?

Looks like bather scum. I would do a clean with awesome stuff. I forgot how to spell it. I use it in my tub. Got stuff out i didnt know was there. And i drain and clean my tub every two weeks!
