Shocking with bleach instead of MPS - Have a few questions!

N.B. Using 3 step bromine system. 370 gal tub. Testing with K-2106 test kit. First question, for those that use MPS to shock/oxydize your tub, how much are you using and how often and how long before it is safe to go in the tub? The instructions on my container say 125g/fresh fill per 1000L...

Aeration - When to use it when balancing pH and TA?

Hi, My pH is stuck at 7.8 and my TA is 90. I've read Nitro's guide to lowering TA without affecting pH but it confuses me. I know I need to focus on getting my TA lower with dry acid. Say around 60, to get my pH right and stable. What I am not sure of is do I add the acid and aerate (turn on...

How do I decontaminate a bromine tub?

I let my tub go for a week and now my bromine is at zero, the water is dull and it's foaming like crazy. The pucks in the floater were stuck at the top, and not releasing the chemicals. I've seen Nitro's decontamination procedure but it is for chlorine. So far I've shocked it with MPS and...

Taylor 2106 Kit - testing bromine levels

If I compare the test results using the 25mL sample and the 10mL sample they are not the same. For example the 25mL sample give a result of 8ppm (16 drops x 0.5) and the 10mL sample gives 12.5ppm (10 x 1.125). I prefer to use the 25mL sample because it's easier to swirl but i can save on drops...

High bromine levels - What do do?

I got my Taylor test kit today and here are my results: CH: 200 TA 120 pH 7.8 Bromine 12.5ppm So I added acid to drop the pH down (I realize this will lower the TA as well). I am using a bromine floater and I just did my weekly shock two nights ago. I need to wait until the bromine is at 6...

How to prepare for high user load in a Bromine spa?

I use a bromine floater and also add 1 tbsp of brominating granules (85% sodium dichlor, 15% sodium bromide) after each use. (2 people for 15-20 minutes) Adding the granules after use was recommended by the vendor as well as another pool store to keep the bromine levels constant. So far it...
