Recommendation for spa blower holes - re-surface in progress

Correct, there are holes directly connected to the blower in the seat. I have been told the tubing normally used for these holes is usually flimsy which makes it easy to puncture, hence causing lots of issues when trying to resurface. Unfortunately the pool is on its original surface and tile...

Recommendation for spa blower holes - re-surface in progress

I'm currently getting my pool resurfaced and retiled. I have a spa that spills over into the pool. When I bought the place the current blower was dead. I bought a new one and it works great. There are a number of holes drilled into the seats around the spa and the thing cranks really well. We...

    Which finish to choose?

Thanks for the info. I looked up the list for our area and the company we got the quote from wasn't on there so that helps to explain the much higher costs. I would go direct if we weren't having more work done on top of it.

    Which finish to choose?

We are currently shopping around to have our pool resurfaced. Its approx 30 years old and was never done by the previous owners. I've had multiple vendors come out and it comes down to 3 options and each one has great things to say about what they do, and bad things to say about everyone else...

Salt Water Test Returning High Value

The system calls for 3200 and test was showing 3600, so I considered that high just because it was over what it called for. Its a Crystal Pure CL-60. The local pool store is usually pretty good so I am having a hard time doubting what they are showing. I added another bag when I got back and its...

Salt Water Test Returning High Value

I just switched to salt and was using the Taylor 0630 and 0718 bottles to test the water. After adding a drop of 0630 to 10ml of water and then adding 0718 I am getting 18 drops in before it turns from milky white to salmon/brick red color. So I felt I was on the high level for my salt. However...

    Pipe size transition

Simple question here. I am preparing to put in an SWG that has 2" ends. I have the bushings to go down to an inch and a half on both sides. On the output side I have the flow switch with the T connecting to the SWG via 2". On the other end of the T I have the bushing going back down to 1 1/2. I...

    New SWG - Flow Switch

Thanks ping. The check valve isn't bad since I won't have to re-do much else. I already have everything else I need to put the cell inline with the flow switch right after the cell. And your right, its a small price to pay to save the 3 grand I spent on the heater.

    New SWG - Flow Switch

I am putting in a Crystal Pure SWG and was reading through the manual/install guide. I thought I had everything planned out but caught something on the second go around regarding the flow switch. First it requires 12 inches of straight length before it is in place with the cell itself counting...

New Install - Where to run cable?

Didn't think about having to take it off to clean it, that makes a lot more sense now. My biggest animal problem would be squirrels followed by maybe armadillos or possums. I've never seen them on that side of the house though, they seem to love digging up the grass on the other side of the house.

New Install - Where to run cable?

I will be installing a new system in the next few weeks and have everything pretty much planned out but not sure how to handle the cable between the cell and the control panel. What is normally done with this? It seems messy to just string it across everything up to the controller. Where it will...

    1 1/2in to 2in upgrade?

I was worried that was the case. That means there is something else below the skimmer assembly with a leak. The very bottom of my skimmer had a crack in it and I sealed it off to get me by for the time being but was worried that wasn't the only issue. I'm now convinced my main drain is...

    1 1/2in to 2in upgrade?

The only time my pump basket stays full and free of any air pockets is when I isolate the spa, runs clean as could be. Most other combinations though cause it to run relatively rough; causing air bubbles to spit out the nearest returns. I thought leaks in the plumbing could have been an issue...

    Leak Found! Now what?

I thought about doing it myself. My concerns are tying it back into the side of the pool properly. Will see how it goes once I get more information on how much it will cost me. It will likely be easier to do it all together.

    1 1/2in to 2in upgrade?

I am getting ready to convert over to a salt system and need some advice on a change I have been thinking about. Every piece of equipment in the system has 2in connectors by default. In my case, every piece of equipment has a 1 1/2 bushing attached since everything coming and going to the pool...

    Leak Found! Now what?

Just figured I'd report back to those who responded. The marine sealant appears to have done the trick and I'm not losing water from that spot anymore. I'll have to keep an eye on it though as I feel it will eventually open back up again. Thanks for the suggestion and help here!

    Leak Found! Now what?

I have a port on the wall for the vacuum and I have an insert in it so it stays open and can pull in water. I have other problems with the amount of water coming in vs going out which I discussed in length on another thread so right now the main drain is off. This leak sidetracked me completely...

    Leak Found! Now what?

If your looking at the black area at the bottom of the picture its a piece of electrical tape. I was reaching in to mark the line so I could watch it against another i put on the side of the pool. When I put the tape on I realized my eyes were fooling me and it was completely empty! Had a...

    Leak Found! Now what?

To banditig, no it didn't freeze, luckily freezing isn't usually an issue in central florida :) Its almost like something shifted and the bottom of the assembly started separating from it. We recently bought the place and I've been working through issues. A few weeks ago I finally noticed that...

    Leak Found! Now what?

Figured out how to delete the old ones. Here they are. Looking at skimmer assemblies I didn't account for the fact that the opening to the pool is part of it, so it seems like major work. Hoping some pool putty along the bottom edge will get me by cause its looking like a pro to fix this one :(

    Leak Found! Now what?

After what seems weeks of trying to find a considerable leak I think I finally won. Now I'm not sure how I fix it. It is the bottom of the skimmer bucket. I had stopped putting water in the pool after reading a few tips from another place. I was hopeful that once the water dropped below the...

    Considerable Leak

Good evening. In the process of all the work I have been doing on my pool I noticed a considerable leak and have been on the hunt for the source. Its definitely not evaporation as I did a bucket test first and the levels were not the same after a day. Since then I have added a solar blanket so...

Pump Flow - Not Keeping up

I had one positive thing happen today. Using dye I was able to find a leak around one of the returns which appears to be newer than the other returns. The dye was sucked right in and after watching it a few minutes I could see it escaping through the side. I got some pool putty and patched it up...

Pump Flow - Not Keeping up

Since I have multiple 1.5 inputs it would seem plausible that the other ends of the valves those are attached to would do well as 2in because multiple are coming together, allowing for more water to come in. I'm sure there could be a physics reason against this though. Since it would cost me at...

Pump Flow - Not Keeping up

Yes I marked it when the pump was off last night and checked this morning before leaving for work. However, based on previous tests I have no reason to believe air is coming in the system since I can have all suction on with limited returns and it runs clean with no sign of air coming into the...

Pump Flow - Not Keeping up

No door, I have one of those inserts that goes into the bucket. Sorry I dont know what the actual term is for this. It functions normally though. On another note, based on differences overnight from my bucket test and the line in the skimmer I do have a leak somewhere. I have to try and find...
