Re: Useful links for fellow Intex Pool Owners Thank you for all of these links! I’m starting over this summer since the poles were rusted just about through on my Intex pool. Each of the 3 summers I had the pool, I learned more and more from this site. I’m looking to to it right this time -...

Going to Start Over - Need Advice

Hi Everyone! I’ve had an Intex 48x15 round pool for 3 summers now. The first year was a complete disaster and then I found this forum and the second was better and this summer was great! Clear water, I felt like I knew what I was doing! However, the legs and poles of the pool are very rusted...

How Long do I Run the Pump Daily / Returning Algea

My pool is partially under a tree and I have quite a bit of small debris that seems to float on the pool surface and sink to the bottom. I've been vacuuming on demand, which seems to be 2 times per week. I've installed a skimmer which seems to catch a very little bit of debris. Because it...

    Larger Intex Strainer/Inlet Needed????????

I have a 15' circle Intex pool. From what I understand, the larger pools come with larger openings and I'd have to cut my pool opening slightly to have the larger strainer/input fit. I find this very terrifying.

    Larger Intex Strainer/Inlet Needed????????

I started off with a new Intex 15' x 48" circle pool last summer. It came with the smallest pump, 637R, which pumped around 1,000 gph (I think). I installed a much larger pump - Intex 633T, which pumps 2,500 gph. I'm going to purchase an Intex skimmer which attaches to 1 of the 2 strainers...

    Alge in hoses & pump

Thanks. From what I've gathered on your site, I should (1) get my PH correct. Wait 30 minutes. (2) Add stabilizer to be about 30 (with an end goal of 50). Wait 2 hours and then (3) begin adding the bleach. All this time the pump is running. Is this correct? We put the pool up in July last...

    Alge in hoses & pump

I've drained and scrubbed the pool after algae took over over the winter. The water is clear ( no chemicals yet) and is still filling. However, I just noticed algae is in the hoses and pump. Do I need to clean these with bleach solution before running the pump? If algae is in the hoses or...

Pump size Merged by moderator. Please keep related questions together. Thanks, jblizzle I wrote in several weeks ago and asked about pump size. Pat had written back and helped me (thank you!), but I need to ask a couple more questions before buying a new pump. I have an Intex 15' circular...

    Cleaning algae off drained pool

Thank you so much! I'll try this. I had NO idea what I was doing this summer and kept running down to the pool store every other day to spend more money and chase my tail. This site is a wealth of info and I feel like I'll do a better job this go around. We live in South Houston Texas and our...

    Cleaning algae off drained pool

I have algae in my above the ground 5000 pool. I've purchased the Taylor TF-100 test kit, a vacuum, and new filters and I thought I was going to SLAM the pool, but the CYA was over 100 and I followed the advise of your site and just drained the pool. It's almost drained (30 hours and still...

Need a New Pump - What Size to I Need?

Alright! I don't feel so completely lost now.. thank you, Pat! I'll order the test kit and get a vacuum and then get ready to start slamming. (I'm sure you'll be reading more of my questions soon - ha!) - - - Updated - - - One more quick question. I had started this whole process with a...

Need a New Pump - What Size to I Need?

Thank you! I will start by getting the test kit. Before I order it, let me ask you if I need to also order a vacuum? The pool did not come with one, and I've been using a long handled brush that we use to wash the cars with to brush the sides and bottom of the pool. The pool is partially...

Need a New Pump - What Size to I Need?

I purchased an above ground pool in July - it was great until 2 weeks ago when algae suddenly took over the pool. I've read how to slam the pool and I'm ready to try that. However I don't think the pump that came with the pool is an adequate size. It is a Intex Model 637R. On the Intex...
