Filter from the sand filter to the pool

we put the sand back in the filter about 6 days ago. I did look at the laterals, all looked fine. I think i need to see sand with the proper corn size so i can compare to what i have. im starting to think the problem might be the mp valve.

Filter from the sand filter to the pool

So much sand has come out that we have used a shovel to get it out. last week we opened up the filter and it was almost empty of sand. (so the filter emptied itself over about 3 months). It seems to have calmed down a bit, but sand is still coming out. But can too big grains cause sand to go to...

Filter from the sand filter to the pool

I dont know if my filter has an internal air bleed. where in the filter would that be? do i need to take all sand out to check it? If someone could tell me what problems too coarse sand could cause i would be grateful. Thanks, Charlize

Filter from the sand filter to the pool

I suspect the sand might be too coarse, but i dont know if that could cause sand to go to the pool? Another theory: the big valve connected to the sand filter (the valve i turn to backwash etc), could wear and tear on this valve cause sand to leak to the pool?

Going to try to add borates

yes, i thought it would drop a bit myself. i should say that it was the gardener that added the boric acid while i was away for a few days. when i got back, the ph was around 8. he said he hadnt added anything else. the swg could be the reason, i guess. but its a bit strange too, that it would...

Going to try to add borates

hi, I want to add borates to our pool. Today i received a delivery from the chemical shop, and among other things i received boric acid. it is powder, contents says 100% boric acid, but under it says there is some boric oxide. Does this sound ok to use? I can take a pic of the label if it is...

around 20 small insects in the pool

I saw about 5 small creatures in the pool yesterday. They look like insects but can swim, about the size of a fly. This morning i can see around 20. What is the best way to get rid of them? They are not easy to catch, so i doubt thats an option.

Bought some chemicals for our new pool

ph is around 7.8-8. FC is around 4. i just added 3 kg of calcium. water is crystal clear, not had any problems thus far. CYA is around 40. will get it up gradually by using trichlor. seems my FC is quite stable, i guess its because of the swg. i will order muriatic acid tomorrow. Should we...

Hi, I am trying to find info about how to handle chemicals. I am probably not looking in the correct places. can someone provide a link? how to handle MA, chlorine etc. Does MA give off bad fumes? How can i protect myself when pouring it into the pool etc. Thanks in advance!

    Some noob questions

We just finished starting up our new pool and i have a few questions: is it possible to backwash too much? For example, is backwashing twice in one day too much? I know i should look at the pressure on the sandfilter, but sometimes i am leaving in the afternoon when the pump starts and i want...

Help us start up our new pool! - tiled 6x12m swg

When we started the pump today, the system started blowing sand into the pool. i stopped the pump immediately. I have talked with the PB, and he is coming in a few days to fix it. He said the likely problem is that the sandfilter is broken. I dont know the details of this problem now of course...

Help us start up our new pool! - tiled 6x12m swg

ok, i fixed it. There was a small plastic "rod" that had come loose, this rod works as hatches and fits in 2 small holes, one on either side of the skimmers inner wall. We just solved our first problem, thanks so much guys!

Help us start up our new pool! - tiled 6x12m swg

yes, there are 2 skimmers. The other one is ok. yes, i think something made the flapper break off, more precicely the gardener when he fit or removed the tube for vacuuming. i will try to see what i can put in the skimmer to protect the system.

Help us start up our new pool! - tiled 6x12m swg

Found the flapper of one of the skimmers in the water this morning. Its broken off the hatches. in the skimmer there is no longer any hatches to fit the flapper back on to. Our gardener used this skimmer last nite to vaccum. maybe something happened when he did this. i cant think of any other...
