Do you HAVE to shock if numbers are alright?

So we took the cover off and all my numbers when I tested were in range except the CYA was low and I needed to add salt. So I added the salt and CYA. All other numbers were good and the pool is crystal clear except for a little dirt on the bottom. So, I'm assuming I don't need to shock it...

Rain storm caused problems, need advice

Yes it is frustrating. Hopefully our PB will be able to repair it quickly. I know it is hard to tell without actually seeing the pool first hand, but I guess I was just hoping that some of the builders on here could tell me what to look for to make sure that our PB fixes it right. Or if they...

So, we started filling (1/2 way) last Monday, Tuesday, they finished plumbing and were started back filling dirt behind walls and we were supposed to finish filling w/ water as soon as they were done. Storm came up as they were finishing the backfill and had 2 in of rain in about hour. Dirt...

    Started digging yesterday

We are excited. Of course it rained last night and they haven't showed up yet this morning. I'd hate for the backhoe to get stuck though. It is going to be a vinyl liner with a buddy seat and diving board or rock.

Need some help before construction starts

Thanks for the input. DH is the one that wants to concrete everything ease of maintenance. He was planning to slope away from house and away from pool to a "valley" to drain. We wanted the pool a little close in b/c we are going to tie the fence into the garage and house. Right now we don't...

Need some help before construction starts

Builder is starting tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. We are still trying to decide where to place pool. We are thinking 16' from the screen porch (not the steps) and 18' from the garage. I can't get my scanner to work to load a sketch showing placement but I'll try again later. The blue flags...

Please review this quote and give me advice

He didn't write the pump info on the sheet but in my notes I have 1 hp/ 250lb sand filter.. Is that sufficient? I have thought about the energy cost and tried to research a little about how much it would increase the bill. I'm open to suggestions on that though.

Please review this quote and give me advice

I think this is the one we will go with. We are about 20 minutes north of Fayetteville, NC. We'd love Shotcrete/gunite but there is only one builder in this area and his quote was almost 20k more for what we wanted. So we had to go with vinyl: True L 16x24x41 3 to 8' depth hayward sand filter...
