    My Whisperflo no longer whispers!!

Hi all, I have an older 1hp Whisperflo that has gotten VERY loud over the past couple months. I never was able to hear it much past the pool, but now hear it anywhere in the house. It is SO loud! My understanding is that this could be a sign that the bearings are failing? I had a contractor...

New plaster, starting to notice streaks and spots

The area is about a foot tall and a foot wide (just guessing without standing in front of it) I believe this is just a normal limestone marble aggregate I will try sanding it this weekend and see what happens. Thank you!

    Does this seem odd?

I already have a call into them, so I will see what they say. Thank you again!

    Does this seem odd?

Anything that can be done to fix that? Or will that be a permanent stain? I had been doing my own, but really don't have the time to clean the pool...I wanted to get someone in to brush/vacuum, etc.

    Does this seem odd?

Thank you, Paul. No, my pool guy doesn't leave any paperwork. I know that he has been there, but he doesn't leave anything. I spoke with him today and told him that I am not happy with the numbers and that things need to show improvement. He has only been working with me since the pool was...

    Does this seem odd?

Hi Jason, Yeah, I had that discussion with my pool guy today and told him that those needed to be improved. I will be doing my own tests for a while to make sure he gets things under control. I just can't imagine that the regulator would show that much wear over a 3 week period...but I could...

    Does this seem odd?

I had a HLS issue on my brand new Mastertemp. Pentair replaced the thermal regulator under warranty and the repairman left the old one with me and said it looked worn. The heater was installed exactly 3 weeks ago...how could the reg look worn yet? I have attached a picture...any thoughts? I...

New plaster, starting to notice streaks and spots

Hi all, We have a pool that was re-plastered (white plaster) in April with a very reputible pool company. They did the start up and since, my PB has been maintaining it. The other day, I noticed brighter white spots and streaks, mostly in the shallow end, but there might be a few deeper...just...

    New Mastertemp problem

OK, my installed checked everything out - I haven't had the heater cycling issue since, but I am still getting the high pitch whine. I had the gas pressure checked at the heater and it is within spec (about 9-10" W.C. when off, about 6-7" W.C. when running). I am currently on hold waiting for...

Gas supply to heater too rich

No, it is hard piped all the way to the heater - no flex. I am going to call Pentair to come out and address the whistling and occasional CHECK HEATER light. It's under warranty - might as well let them deal with it! I will let you know what I find. Thanks!

Gas supply to heater too rich

It tested just under 10 w.c., so I should be OK. A tech at pentair said I need to be at 12 or under. If I notice the whistling again, I will have pentair come out to check it out. Thanks! -David

Gas supply to heater too rich

Hi all, I have a newly installed Pentair Mastertemp 300 that has a high pitch whistle intermittently. I understand that this is an indication that the flame is too rich. After the heater was installed, the gas company installed a larger meter feeding the house...went from a 200k btu meter to a...

    New Mastertemp problem

Hmmmm...it started doing it again...so not sure if it is still a mixture issue or if it is something else. Any other things to try?

    New Mastertemp problem

OK, I figured something out. I tried leaning out the mixture by partially closing the supply valve...just enough until the whine went away. Since doing that, the heater is not shutting off any more and is continually heating properly. The Gas company upgraded our meter AFTER the heater was...

    New Mastertemp problem

I checked and it is the High Limit switch that is tripping. Why would this happen on a new heater?

    New Mastertemp problem

Hi all, I just had a brand new Pent air Mastertemp 300 installed and immediately noticed a problem. When it first turns on, it flashes heating as it calls for heat and then fires up normally. The problem begins almost exactly 2 minutes later...heat cuts off and the "service heater" light comes...

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

And it sounds like my riser should be fine...I guess I will have the installer use his judgement when he is doing the installation. LAST question (I think)...the plumbing at the heater is old copper...I know the copper goes into the ground, and I don't know how far, but I assume it must end by...

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

Yeah...according to the calculator at http://www.discount-pool-supplies.com, it says that the cost to heat 17000 gallons a rise of 20 degrees will be $25.29 no matter which heater I use (since the amount of therms required would be the same) - it ONLY comes down to speed. The 250k will heat...

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

difference is only about $150 between the 250 and the 300. Is there any difference in the comfort level of hot water coming out of the return? I don't know if an oversized heater would cause any discomfort, especially with kids in the water. If not, and for that price, I would go larger just...

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

OOPS! Sorry...the current riser is 1", they are saying I need to upgrade to 1.5" So it sounds like going with the 300k over the 250k may have a slight cost savings?

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

OK, so this all raised another question. I had a survey done at my house and the company said a 250k BTU heater would be plenty. I am leaning towards a 300K instead. Any pros or cons going up a step? I guess the real question is, given that there wouldn't be a HUGE difference in time to heat the...

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

Hey Jason, That is 2" OD. So, given that, even with a minimum run of 102 feet and with a couple feet of 1" riser with a split to a BBQ, should I still be OK going with a 400k BTU heater? Thank you!!!

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

Yeah, after I started talking about 1" pipe, I went out for a double check. There is a reducer at the ground, but the lateral run actually appears to be a 2" line. The riser is 1". I assume this changes things a bit?

Pool heater and home warranty replacement problem

Just assuming straight line from the meter to the heater is approximately 102 feet, with 1" pipe coming out of the ground at the heater. Any suggestions on this?
