    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

Last weekend we poured the collar. We decided to have the cement delivered and get a line pump to do the job. Expensive way to do it but worth every penny. It only took about 2 hours from the time the cement truck arrived to pour the 4.5 yards. Working on plumbing and hooking up the equipment...

The walls are up :splash: and we're getting closer. We got the dirt hauled off, 24 dump truck loads (240 yards). We kept about 5 yards to level off a couple areas around the pool. It would not be a good thing to have to buy dirt after that insane adventure. The damage after the dig phase...

Flex base backfill Does anyone have any experience using recycled concrete for back fill on an in ground vinyl? I'm debating between using flex base or 3/8 minus. With 3/8 minus I'm concerned that the shapes of the rock could damage the plumbing.

Finally finished pool, but the beer truck cost a small fortune...

Now that's an award winning pool build.

Me too. I've got a couple ideas but with the limited space I'll have a hard time getting enough height to recreate the effect of the volume. What made this so assume was how fast it was coming down. I think I can get enough water flowing with the 1.5hp pump, but unless I can get enough height...

Waterfall redesign So much for having a plan. When my wife and I headed out for our vacation we agreed to leave work and the yard project behind. This worked out until we went to Mendenhall Glacier. After she saw the waterfall there she said that was what she wanted for our waterfall. Being...

    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

Status update My wife and I got back from our vacation so it's back to pool building. If you haven't done a cruise in Alaska you've got to put that on your bucket list  To anyone outside of a pool forum this might really sound strange. My pool was shipped while we were away and is...

    Pump size advice needed

I decided to nix the flex pipe and go with 1.5" rigid with a single 1.5HP Pentair Super Flo pump. I'll use a flow control valve on the return to the waterfall to control volume.

    Pump size advice needed

The pool is all curved and the main drain is on the opposite end of the pool from the equipment. Plus I can get the flex in 50ft lengths so fewer joints underground to worry about. Water travels through curved pipe allot better than 90 degree, or even 45 degree, turns. My backwash to get to...

Bonding question This whole bonding thing is confusing and full of holes. I get the bonding concept, but implementation is another thing all together. Here's my scenario for bonding my pool and grounding my decking at the same time. This is a steel wall vinyl pool so by code it's non...

I'm the builder :drown: I didn't think of that. I'll look again at using the 2" with this pump. Thanks

Status update We got our Oncor construction site plan approval and have applied for our building permit. The city says less than 3 days to get the approval back. We ordered the pool from Royal Swimming Pools last night. 18' x 36' x 28' Lagoon Inground - Right curve Steel wall with deck...

    Pump size advice needed

Thanks for all of the good info. If it was a perfect world think of all the wonderful choices we could make. But upfront cost is a big factor at this point. I decided to go with the 1.5hp Pentair SuperFlo with 1 1/2" piping. Pumps that connect up to 2" piping are just too far outside of the...

    Pump size advice needed

I'm building a new inground vinyl pool and I'm not sure on the pump and pipe size needed. The main drains will be 90 ft from the filter and 1 of the 2 skimmers a little farther than that. I'm planning 1.5hp single speed and 1 1/2" flex PVC. I'm assuming that 1 1/2" pipe would still be okay...

What size pump and pipe would be recommended for a main drain 90 ft away from the pump/filter? The pool will be about 24K gallons.

    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

With my old pool SOP was to fun the filter for a couple hours if we were having guests. After a sizable party I would run it all night after  I have a 100amp sub panel with a single 200v line out for a spa the previous owner had. I'm going to replace this with a new panel with a 30...

    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

If I run the waterfall off the filter I plan to use a valve to control flow to it. If I want it off I'll just shut the valve. I really have no idea how much flow the waterfall will need. Having the valve should give me the ability to adjust the volume. If I put in a 1/2 hp variable speed...

    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

Decisions decisions What are the real world pros and cons of running a waterfall off of the filter vs a standalone pump? If I did use a separate pump could that be connected using the same electrical circuit as the filter pump? Could it be connected to a utility outlet? Or would it have to...

    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

The last couple of weeks have been a blur. As I noted earlier our original design died a quick and painful death by turning into a budget killer. We switched to a 20x40x31 Lagoon layout but that pool doesn't work either. This time the size won't fit without violating building codes. Our...

    Inground Vinyl DFW Texas

Starting the paper flow and lining up the steps to splashdown :drown:. We started out with a custom design but after submitting our drawings to kit builders we've decided to go with an out of the box 20x40x32 Lagoon kit. They wanted $16K for a kit to do our design vs $9K for the standard kit...

    Inground Vinyl PB around Dallas

Anyone in the Dallas area know of a PB that will work on Inground Vinyl installs? Or at least someone who can do the dig for me? I have looked all over and it seems that the Inground Vinyl pool market doesn't exist around here. I've found PBs that do gunite builds and vinyl liner replacements...
