    Lost my test kit

My home was lost in the December tornados in Kentucky. I looked everywhere for my TF100 test kit, and never did find it. I know I can order the refill reagents from tft.net. The crazy thing is, I can't remember what all I need in the way of cylinders, and everything that went into the kit...

    Waterway Millennium Filters

Y'all are so good, I haven't had to post in a long time, my pool stays perfect!! Thanks! Now I have a problem though, I am currently using my second 26" Waterway filter, the first developed a leak at the top of the seam while under warranty, and was replaced. Now the one I have is leaking from...

    Water a little cloudy

I messed up and let my FC fall to 2 yesterday, and the water was a touch cloudy, CC was 0. I brought up FC to 10 and this morning it is still a little cloudy, but FC is still 10 and CC is still 0. Pool has been covered with a solar cover for a couple weeks. Any advice? Thanks!

    Waterway Filter question

I was preparing the plumbing to open my pool, and while putting the pressure gauge in the housing, it cracked (the housing). My question is can I just buy the housing, without buying the multiport system. I've looked around some online, but not sure what that housing is called. Its a Waterway...

    Losing water

Not sure if this is the proper place for this, but I have started losing about an inch of water a day in the pool. I have checked every seam but cant seem to find anything that looks suspicious (not sure exactly what I am looking for anyway). No water is showing on the equipment pad. I guess...

    CYA test

Is it ok to do the CYA test on water that I pulled from the pool on Saturday (today is Tuesday), and been sitting in the house since that time?

    Which way will water go?

Probably a stupid questions, but if you have some pin holes in your pool cover and get some rain on it, which way will the water go? From the pool to the top of cover, or from top of cover to the pool.

    Temperature change

Anyone have an idea why the temperature calibration would change on a Autopilot digital SWG? It is reading at least two degrees warmer than the actual water temp. My calculations are based on using two other thermometers to test the water. This just started in the last couple days.

    MA question

While I was pouring 8 ounces of Muriatic Acid in the pool while ago, I wondered who thought it would be a good idea to pour ACID in a vinyl lined pool. I still find it amazing that 8 ounces of anything can change the chemistry in 15000 gallons of water. I don't guess that was a question, as...

    Lost my sparkle

My water is not sparkling like I am used too, and I don't know why. My numbers are real good as of this morning. We are using it more than usual this year because of great pool weather. I'm thinking about adding some DE for the first time, and my question is do I just add it dry to the...

    FC and solar cover

I put my solar cover on Sunday night after bringing up FC to 9. I went out of town until this afternoon, and FC was 5.5, with CC of .5. My water temp was 91 when I got home this afternoon. Is this about normal. I brought it back up to 7.5 and retested, and CC was 0.

    Smells like Chlorine

For the first time in 3 years I can smell the distinct odor of chlorine around the pool. Had 3 days of large swimmer loads over the holiday weekend, and raised the FC every night after people got out. Water is clear, but not as crystal clear as I am used too. (wife says it looks fine) Did...

    Pool Math difference

I have a friend who opened up to low PH and he uses sticks(he wont buy the TFkit) and his PH is around 6.2. When using pool math for a 28000 Gallon pool, the now and goal part of pool math says add 711 oz of Twenty mule team borax, to raise it to 6.8. The effects of adding chemicals says it...

    2 speed pump question

Is it ok to switch between high to low, or low to high without turning the pump off first? My last pump had a rocker switch with low/off/high position. The new pump came without a switch so I had to order one for this specific pump. It is a toggle switch with just low/high position. Do I...

    Rattliing in multiport valve

After recent pump replacement, I have a rattling in the multiport valve when pump is on high. Can I just take the screws out of the top of in and lift it off? My bet would be a small piece of PVC that could have dropped in pump while replacing. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

    CYA seems high

Opened a couple weekends ago with water temps in the 50s, and a broken pump. Pump is now replaced, and I checked my CYA level yesterday and it came out to 70. I did let the water warm up to room temperature in the house before checking. 70 seems high to me after sitting all winter and I...

    Filter pressure question

I just had my new Jandy Flopro pump installed, and my filter pressure increased from 10 psi on the old pump, to 18 on the new pump. This is a far superior pump to my old one. Is the pressure increase anything to be concerned with??

    FAS-DPD Chlorine Test Turns Orange

Did my first test this morning with FAS-DPD test and water turned orange. Never saw that before. It took 16 drops so FC is 8 and CC showed 0. I have a pump in the water circulating it until I figure out what I am going to do about replacing pool pump. Any advice on the Orange?

    Pump is humming

Opened pool yesterday, and after about 10 minutes of trying to get the pump primed, the pump quit working and just hummed. It was getting plenty of water, just not priming fully. On the final attempt when I hit the switch to turn it on, it just hummed. I took the end cap off of pump, and you...

    Question about transfer pump

Can you slow down the amount of water a transfer pump moves with a ball valve, without damaging it. Another words, if a pump will move 1000 gallons a hour, will it hurt the pump if you put a valve on it and slow it down to 200 gallons a hour? (Gallons listed here are just for analogy, not...

    Solar panels

I have no idea where to start, except I am on a budget. My pool size is in my signature. Will the panels listed in the link below do me any good. They would be in full sun. I guess I should ask is my 1 1/2 HP pump enough to push the water in the panels if it is located on my roof...

    Getting closer to opening time

I'm so ready to stop looking at the cover and see a pool! We have had LOTS and LOTS of rain and LOTs more coming over the weekend. I'm pumping the water off my cover into the pool, (about 8 inches) to save my well when I do open. I put a hair net over the bottom of the pump, and three tube...

    Frozen pool

This is my third winter with the pool, and the first year it ever froze solid. It is starting to thaw, and some areas have no ice, while other areas are still pretty frozen. I have water standing on the cover now, so my question is, should I pump it off now, or wait until everything unfreezes...

    Could be algae

Brushed the pool while ago, and I have been slacking because of a injury. Looked like a green mist coming off the floor. We have had lots of winds and got 4 1/2" rain in last 18 hours. I'm hoping its dirt. Question is, can I do the OCLT for about 13 hours? No sun on it now, and it will be...
