Valve attached to pump, for draining pool?

Coming off of my pool pump is a valve with hose attachment (similar to what you would have on your house almost to have a hose hooked up). I noticed the old home owner has a hose laying out here as well. I was never explained what this was for so I haven't touched it and anytime I have needed to...

    Closing pool first time...

I am having someone help me close my pool for the first time this weekend. He said to have the water level at least 2 inches below the skimmer when he comes. I wanted to be proactive and start trying to pump spme water out (25k gallons takes a while to lower). If I get the water level below...

FC 5 CC 0 TC 5 CH 475 TA 150 CYA 80 PH 7.2 I added some liquid bleach after the test to increase the FC since the CYA is a bit high. Another thing I don't like is the CH level so I will no longer be...

    Leslie's FC test

Just curious does anyone know why when Leslie's tests water they suggest only 1-4 ppm for free chlorine? Is there a reason they don't take cya into account? This seemed like it was built into their system printouts also not just what the employee suggested.

New pool but have some yellow around tile

Hey everyone. I opened my new pool last week (never owned a pool before so I added some pics). It has stayed pretty clean after vacuuming a few times however I have noticed some yellow staining on the tile. We had a ton of pollen the past couple weeks so my guess is that it is starting to stain...

    High CYA in new Pool

Hello everyone. I bought a new house a few months ago and I just opened the pool last week. The pool is 25K gallons, plaster liner, DE filter, and inline chlorinator. After opening I took a water sample to leslies. The FC was at 4 PPM, PH was at 7.4. The only alert was CYA being high at 100...
