Need to replace broken Floor Drain Cover **UPDATE** Replaced

My floor drain cover got stepped on and broke into several pieces and needs to be replaced. The rub....I can't seem to find a replacement. It is an old American Products 9-1/4" round cover (model#871013). I know American Products is not around anymore, but someone HAS to make a replacement or...

    Next on my Honey-Do list....

We struggled to keep the pool up towards the end of last summer and now it's time to deal with the problem at hand. I have posted pics and problems we were having with the pool here at TFP before, but that was so last year. To-Do List: - Unclog suction line - Borrowed a friends roto-rooter and...

    $99???

I guess I knew that it would cost a few extra bucks, but it's been a while and I forgot...... I was cruising through the howibuiltmyswimmingpool.com page and started getting the "you need a premium access account". Crud-ola! So I was just wondering, does anyone here have the premium access? Is...

2.5 HP pump VS. 1 HP pump

Got my plumbing issues sorted out (This is the Thread - http://www.troublefreepool.com/how-does-a-pump-go-bad-t17360.html) and now have the opprurtunity to keep (for an extremely reasonable price) the 2.5 HP pump I was using to troubleshoot. We are not sure if there was something lodged in the...

Got a little work to do

I have been wrestling with this plumbing issue with our pool. So needless to say, the pool has not been getting the "upkeep" that it typically gets. After fixing our plumbing problem, we are going to do some of the other things we have on our to-do list for the pool and backyard. I think this...

How does a pump go bad?

I have a Hayward Super II self priming pump. I think I may be having some issues with. It seems like its not pumping water from the pool to it's full potential. The line from the pool to the pump does not seem to be obstructed, used a water weenie. If the pump were going bad, is it possible for...

    Dirt/Sand/DE settling in pool

I seem to have a small amount if dirt/sand, possibly DE, that I just can't get cleaned up. To fine for the Polaris and the vaccum to pick up. I'm leaning more towards thinking it's DE....Why would I get DE in the Pool. Could it happen during backwashing? I have not seen any holes in the...

A Couple of Q's About My Polaris

I have a Polaris 320 that does a smash up job getting the pool clean.....when it is not getting stuck on the steps. No matter how I adjust the direction of the little jet and not matter how I set the flow out of the exhaust, it is drawn like a magnet to the shallow end steps. It winds up giving...

    Price check on aisle 9

Did the math and I was suprised.....but then again I wasn't. My LPS has a case - (4) 1 gallon jugs - of Liquid Chlorine (10%) for $15. That's not a sale price, it's thier everyday standard price. After doing the math I found it would take a dozen clorox jugs to equal the one case of the Liquid...

    Which pool liner to pick?

After talking with a couple folks about pool liners, I understand I can get the LOOK we want with any of the products we go with....plaster, quartz or pebble. What I would like to know more about is which product is the best. Obviously, plaster is at the bottom of the totem pole. What would be...

Pool Remodler is Coming on Friday - New Liner

We have someone coming to give us a estimate to get our liner redone and a couple other things tomorrow. We currently have plaster that is quickly deteriorating, damaged areas range from the size of my fist up to the size of a serving platter.....18 in all!! It is the original liner on a pool...

    PH Won't Budge

I have made two attempts to raise my PH and after each addition of Borax, no change. I have been sitting at 7.2. The pool calculator tells me to add 57oz of borax to bring it up to 7.6. I've added roughly 110-115 oz of Borax total with no changes. Is something preventing the PH from coming up...

    Taylor Acid Demand Reagent

My cute little Leslie Test Kit came with Taylor reagents and instructions to test Total Chlrorine (R-0600), PH (R-0014) and Alkalinity (R-0007/8/&9). The kit came with the Acid Demand Reagent (R-0015) and no explaination how to mix it up. Anyone have any idea how I use it and what does it...

    Granular Chlorine instead of Bleach

Any problems using the rest of my bucket of granular chlroine (Zappit) before I start using Bleach. I will be implementing the other two B's today, beginning with baking soda. Just want to make sure the Zappit is not gonna screw things up. sS

    First Post, First Question

I am in the process of reading Pool School and learning as much as I can about BBB....Needless to say, there will be more Q's like this. I have seen in several places that I should add clorine/bleach, etc. to the skimmer in the evenings. I typically run my pump during the day and it shuts down...
