Pool Blaster Hydro 500 vs. Pool Blaster Centennial Li

Hi everybody. Want to get a little cordless vacuum, and have narrowed it down to these two I think in their price range: Pool Blaster Hydro 500 vs. Pool Blaster Centennial Li. My problem is I'm having a hard time figuring out the differences between each one. They almost look the same but...

Best budget cordless above ground pool vacuum

I think I've had enough of the hook up to your hose vacuum and want to get a not terribly expensive cordless one that actually sucks up and traps the dirt inside rather than just blowing most of it around through the net. Any recommendations, or ones to avoid, in the $100ish or less range?

Pool cover: How much water on top is too much, and why hole punch size holes in it

Hey everybody. Had two questions that have been bugging me. 1) How much water on top of a cover in the moat created by a winter pillow is safe? Nothing's froze here yet but getting there, but rain water is building up on top. 2) The cover I have has what I'd say are hole puncher sized holes in...

    "Black hat" for outlet jet

Have a Coleman/Bestway AGP that comes with the 2 black hats to plug the inlets to the pump. What can you use to plug the hole where the water shoots out? Just noticed when I put it in the closed position, there's still a small trickle of water coming out of it, which won't help for trying to...

Can you combine chlorine and chlorine-free shock?

I had a bag of Chlorox Shock Plus left so decided to shock one more time before I winterize. Then it dawned on me the shock I got for winterizing is chlorine-free. Am I going to cause some chemical reaction if I put the chlorine-free shock in while the chlorine shock is in there, or is there a...

Tips for keeping winter cover on

So I have a solid cover I'm going to use for the winter. It's branded Coleman and has a drawstring type deal with a little plastic clamp thing to tighten it. Either I'm doing it wrong or this thing won't get tight enough with the built in string to stay solidly around the pool, it keeps...

Leave up and winterize a Coleman/Bestway AGP in midwest

I've always torn down and stored my Intex or now Coleman (Bestway) AGPs in the past, but I see so many people here saying they just winterize, so think I'm going to go that route starting this year. Found this blog post on here...

1.5 inch replacement hose for Coleman (Bestway) - does brand matter?

For 1.5 inch replacement hoses, do you have to get the ones branded for your specific pool? I have a Coleman made by Bestway, but seems like stores only have the Intex 1.5 inch hose in stock right now. Wondering if really they're interchangeable so I could go with the Intex or not. Thanks!

Intex skimmer basket on Bestway pool

Had an old Intex skimmer basket that fits perfectly on the Bestway inlet piece. Both pools had a 1500 gallon filter pump but the Best way splits it between two inlets where the old Intex only had one, so it skims at "half strength". Does that half strength skimming even help or am I doing more...

    AGP pool vacuum recommendations

My filter isn't strong enough to get one of those self propelled cleaners, but wondering if there's like smaller handheld vacuums that will vacuum up all the little stuff that seems to stay or end up back on the bottom of my pool after I use the attach to a hose catch debris in a little mesh net...

PSTG5 in a pinch for an a/c filter replacement

Would a PSTG5 work in place of a true pc7-120 A/C filter for an AGP? Not long term, just in a pinch here with limited choices in my area.

Better to take down and store, or leave up and winterize

Have had Intex, Bestway, etc. type AGP for a long time. I've always taken them down for the winter and stored in a shed and I can get almost a decade out of them with some hole patching here and there. How long would the pool last generally speaking if left outside during Midwest winters? Just...

Intex skimmer basket on Coleman/Bestway pool

I have an almost brand new Intex hang over the wall skimmer basket, but had to replace the pool this year with a Coleman (made by Bestway) 18x48 which has two openings in the pool wall to suck water into the pump through. The hoses for those two openings are skinnier than the Intex hoses...

    Replacement hose clamps

So have a Coleman made by Bestway. Turned one of the twisters on the hose clamp too tight and snapped it. My old Intex didn't have those. Are those a critical piece? Looks like the replacement part is P6124ASS16 for $10, so not expensive. Am I in for problems until I get a replacement?

Legs pulling in on new AGP

Setting up a brand new right out of the box AGP, have probably a few inches of water in it now. Legs keep naturally wanting to pull in as I go around one by one straightening them. I'm sure I'm giving the neighbors a good laugh as many times as I've gone around fixing them 😀 I can't remember, is...

    Coleman Power Steel 18x48 legs

Thinking of going from an older Intex 18x48 that's seen better days, to that Coleman power steel 18x48. Seems like maybe the Coleman is just a Bestway rebranded perhaps. Does anyone have that Coleman and know how far apart the legs are? I'm assuming it won't line up perfectly to the spots I had...

    Coleman AGP - any good?

Looking to replace an old Intex, all I can find are Coleman above ground pools, but have no experience with them. Are they any good? They look nice in the pictures :p Looking at the Coleman Power Steel 18’ x 48” Round Above Ground Pool. Looks like it doesn't come with a skimmer basket...

Intex intake plunger valve spitting water from knob on top

Filling the pool, water half almost covering output valve. Water is shooting out of the little turn knob on the valve where water goes in to the pump. Not the on/off knob but the little round one I think is maybe for air pressure perhaps. Is that normal while filling? If I turn the filter on...

Tips when you can't exactly find the hole in Intex AGP

Pool is about a third full, and I found a wet spot so I know I have a leak. Pool is too heavy to lift to see or feel under it to see water shooting out. Based on where the water is I can tell the general area the leak must be in, but I'm not finding a hole so maybe it's at a seam or something...

Flex or gorilla tape for patching Intex

Has anyone used that flex tape or gorilla tape to patch holes in an Intex AGP? Usually I use a patch kit with the sheet of patch and tube of that glue, but wondering if the tape is any good.

Best A/C filters for Intex pool

Hey all. I'm already having a hard time finding filters locally so going to look online for the A/C filters for my Intex pool. So many brands out there though, any tips on which ones to avoid or look for that aren't the Intex brand ones? Just don't want to waste money on bad ones that don't...

    Algae growing while draining pool

Draining the AGP and apparently just in the nick of time, as the bottom and water are going green. Should I stop draining so I can shock again before draining more before I put it away? Keep draining then do "something" once empty before i store it for the winter? Thanks for the advice.

Intex material across horizontal bars fraying, birds pulling on it

On my Intex AGP, the material that wraps around the horizontal bars is fraying due to age, and now the birds are pulling on it to try to use it as material to build their nests with. Anything I can do to protect it or make it so the birds can't keep pulling it up? Hopefully without making the...

Solar covers, what thickness mil is recommended

Most I'm seeing are 6, 8, 12, or 16 mil. I know the higher the mil the better it warms/keeps heat in generally speaking, but what's the best bang for your buck? Some of these are fairly expensive, not sure if it is worth splurging or if the gains are negligible so you're better off in the...

Pump hose cracked, any way to seal it until new one arrives?

Have an Intex 28635EG 1500GPH pump, and one of the pump hoses has finally cracked a little and is leaking water. Looks like the soonest I can get a new one is a few weeks. Anything I can do in the meantime to patch it enough to where I can run the filter without it leaking a ton? This is...

Besy way to clean sides and bottom of pool before storing for winter

Any tips on cleaning the inside sides and bottom of an emptied Intex AGP before putting it away for the winter? Had a slight algae issue this year but got that under control I think, just want to make sure it's extra clean. I already have one of those foam sponge things to scrub, but should I...
