    SWG testing

Is there any way to test a Zodiac LM3 cell? Mine is at the end of it's 8th season and we've never had any problems. This summer it seems like it just wouldn't keep up. There's plenty of cloudy output at the front end, so it looks like there is definitely chlorine gas being generated. There is no...

    Solar cover handling

So, when buttoning up for the evening, how do you guys pull the solar cover off the reel and get it to the other end of the pool? The original clips tore thru the cover. I'm thinking of using a 10' length of foam core pvc and attaching it to the end of the cover using clips similar to those...

    Mice under the concrete

The mice made a mess of my concrete deck (actaully the 3' pool surround) by creating multiple tunnels and voids under it over the winter months. Now there are hollows all over, so much that you can hear your footsteps...how do i fill this in? I asked a local grout guy and he said you could not...

    Adding CYA

I snuck this question in on the end of a reply on another thread, probably should have just started here...has anyone ever used one of those chlorine tab floating dispensers to get CYA into the pool? I'm still gonna put it in a sock, just thought it would be a cleaner method.

    Air problem

OK, I know that air in the basket is s sign of a suction side leak...it's pretty significant this year, just opened yesterday. Lots of bubbles. One thing I noticed is that when I shut the pump down, water spurts from the basket lid (o-ring joint)...would it make sense that the point where air is...

    The wait

Kids had just put on the sunscreen, and then the wait began. [attachment=0:uyr46n79]2012-06-15_14-49-41_261.jpg[/attachment:uyr46n79]

    K2005 vs K2006

So the inlaws gave me a kit as a gift. It's a Taylor K2005. As far as I can tell, the biggest thing is that is not the FAS-DPD test method for chlorine. I've been using it for a while and seems to be giving good, consistent results. Is there any reason to consider upgrading to the 2006?

    Low CH will stretch liner

New Leslie's opened up in town...I needed a new filter drain gasket, and figured I check out the water testing service. First test showed my total dissolved solids was too high...around 2700. Then I reminded the guy that I had a SWG. He said it didn't make any difference, that I should drain...

    DE substitute

Any recommendations on a DE alternative? Doheny's flyer shows Zeofiber as being something that's easier to handle, and 1 pound replaces 8 pounds of DE. I'm a little skeptical but like the sounds of it. Pool guy says he doesn't sell much of it.

Skimmer blocked by shifted solar cover

The other day it was a bit breezy out, and the wind shifted the solar cover to one side. It bunched up against one of the skimmers, folded downward and essentially blocked the flow into it...luckily I heard the sound change at the filter and caught it before much happened. Anybody else have that...

    Nature2

Ok, I've done some searching and the concensus here is that I have wasted three years of cartridge $$ on the Nature2 system. I'm not going to do that again. Can I just leave the cartridge in the loop and forget about it, or should I remove the whole device from the line? By the way, I've been...

    Too much chlorine

For the first time, i decided to open the pool this year myself, because the pool guys are now asking for $250 to open it even if I install the laddders, board and uncover the pool before they get there...that being said, the local supply house instructed me to shock first before I even brought...
