    Evaluate my logic please.

Installed the pool Aug. 2010, and it has literally been trouble free. I installed "The Circulator" in the return near the steps in an attempt to keep all the little debris from accumulating in that dead spot. It worked as advertised, but now I have developed an obvious leak. Overnight the pool...

    Confusing TA readings

Using my Taylor 2105, I checked my TA today for the first time in awhile. TC was 8.5 (before adding bleach) and PH was 7.4. Using the 25ml method, I stopped adding the R 0009 at 30 drops. It never turned red. With the 10ml method it registered 50. Never had this happen before. I don't cover the...

Increased my CYA and my FC doubled?

Checked my CYA after having to pump out water on several occasions from thunderstorms. The CYA had been consistently in the 50-60 range for the last month or so, but had dropped to around 40. I run the pump from 11am to 5pm, with the SWCG set at 45% . My FC normally stays in the 4 to 6ppm range...

    SWCG output question

I measured the chlorine level on my return water and a question came to mind. Is the actual chlorine production a constant (5 ppm in my case) for the % of normal pump run time? Is the output greater during Super Chlorination, or just 5 ppm for the entire run time? I'm assuming water temp and...

    Question about calculating my GPM

Pool newb here, so please excuse my newbness. I thought it would be wise to have a " reasonably accurate" idea of my GPM and target on water turns. Without getting too complicated, will I be able to calculate my GPM with my filter gauge and by adding a vacuum gauge on the pump? I've read so much...

    Super chlorination and shocking question

I read in a post recently that super chlorination is not really intended to bring FC up to shock levels. My pool is less than a year old and I've only used the super chlorination function a few times (massive rain & heavy swimmer load). At the time, I didn't have the capability to measure FC...

    Salt level and SWCG efficiency

I was curious if there was any info regarding salt levels and their effect on SWCG output percentages and their efficiency. Specifically, if I was to bump my salt level up slightly, would I still be able to maintain my chlorine levels at the same amount of pump run time but at a lower...

    CYA Ideal ranges question

Why do the NSPI and APSP set the Ideal range of CYA at 30-50, and the Pool Calculator shows 70-80 as a goal? I picked up calcium today to up my CH and decided to get 1.75lb of Stabilizer since my CYA was 45. Going by the industry standard, I didn't need to adjust my CYA. I was just curious. Thanks

Had a pool store test my water

Ran the numbers with my new Taylor K-2105 kit. Just for the heck of it, I took a sample by a local pool supply store to have them test. Some things were very close, but there were several differences. Salt level from my controller shows 2900, and they came up with 2200. My TA number of 90 was...

    Test kits disagree

Installed the pool last August and have been using the crummy kit they supplied (Pentair 78HR). Guy that walked me through pool school said the kit was not adequate and suggested I purchase a better one, so I just bought a Taylor K-2105. I did some tests with both kits and was surprised at the...

Chlorinator off - Low Temp message

On my SWCG (SmartControl PL-P-4-X288) I am getting the message "Chlorinator Off Low Temperature", while the unit is running during the day. I've been running Super Chlorinate periodically to keep my FC correct. Is there any way to adjust the controller to generate chlorine during the normal...
