    Question about Hayward multiport valve

I have a Harward sand filter with a top-mounted multiport valve. I need to remove the tank for some repairs. Can I support the multiport valve and run it on recirculate without the tank attached? It's plumbed with flex PVC, so I can lift it and remove the tank. Thanks!

    Compupool cell burned

Need some advice. My CPSC-16 cell burned where the power cable disc attaches to the cell. Oddly enough, it was still generating to some degree. My question - should I order a replacement cell or go with another brand (or method)? The unit is 4 years old, so the cell was probably on its way out...

    SWG is so boring

I check my chems every few days and it's always FC=4 & pH=7.4. Oh, and sparkly water. Nothing to do. ZZZZZZ

    Compupool dummy housing

I know you can buy a replacement cell housing, but it's kinda spendy. Is there a cheap alternative that can be cobbled with PVC fittings?

    SWG fun & games

Finally got my Compupool SWG installed, but not without excitement. I mounted and wired the control unit okay. Then I cut the return line and started a geyser of water. It quickly dawned on me that the return fittings are about a foot above where I cut. One flash flood later, I blocked the...

    Compupool SWCG issues

I installed a CPSC16 last weekend. It is rated for 20K gallons; my pool is 11K. I've been running it at 70% for three days and the FC is still below 1%. Water is perfectly clear, but it seems it should be making more chlorine. Here's the rest. The salt calculator said said I needed a bit over...

    Compupool wiring question

My SWG showed up today! It came set to 220V - I need 110. I haven't opened the unit yet, but changing the jumpers seems simple enough. Here's my question - the power cable is just bare wires; green, red and black. For 220V, my guess is the red and black are the hot leads. What about 110V?

    Question on CompuPool SWG

I finally took the plunge and ordered a SWG. The manual says to mount the cell horizontally - my question is, why? Will it not work unless completely horizontal, or not work as well? Just curious. Can't wait to get this thing working!

    Algae - I guess

I have had a couple of stained areas on my liner, on the side slope in the deep end. I've brushed vigorously, with little effect; it's been there for several weeks. I was about to decide it was metal staining or something bleeding through from the back side. Anyhow, I brought the FC up to shock...

    Interesting pool store info

Just went to the local pool store for muriatic acid. I asked if they sold liquid chlorine and the lady said it is illegal to sell it in Mississippi. Ever heard of anything like that? I wonder if the Home Depot down the street knows about that. They have it on the shelf.

    Galloping pH

Started using BBB this year; so far, so good. The water looks great, but I've really been fighting pH levels. It keeps wanting to rise to 8.0. I'll add muriatic acid to bring it back to 7.0 - 7.2. I do have a wall fountain that keeps the pool aerated. Within two days, back to 8.0. TA is 130...

    Flow restriction from SWG cell?

My suction-side pool cleaner is marginal at best. The filter and strainer baskets have to be clean for the suction to be high enough for it to operate properly. I am considering installing an Intex SWG in the return line. My question - would the SWG cell restrict flow in a 1 1/2 inch line enough...

    Trying to decide chlorinating method

I just started using bleach and if I figure correctly, based on 3-4 month swimming season, I should be able to purchase enough bleach for about $50-60. Works great, but I just know I'll lose interest and miss a day here and there. That brings me to the Liquidator. Adds about $150, but gives a...

    Intex SWG on inground pool?

Checking SWG's on eBay, I found an Intex unit for about $160. Everything else seems to be $600+. The Intex specifically says "for above ground pools only, not for inground". How does the SWG know the difference? Does anyone know if this would actually work? My pool is small, only about 11K gallons.

    Just opened pool

I'm new here; great site! I've already learned a lot. I just replaced my vinyl liner and refilled the pool about 3 weeks ago. Been using BBB. I got a Taylor K-2006 & here's my numbers: TA 170 PH 7.6 CYA 45 FC 2.5 CC .5 CH 0 (I guess; the sample stays blue/violet, never turns red) Water...

    How do you measure bleach?

New to BBB and so far, it's working great. My question - when the calculator tells you how much to add, do you measure it out accurately, or do you "guesstimate"? Should I get a measuring cup and do it right? Thanks!

    Size of liquidator?

Just started using BBB; so far, great results. I'd like to automate a bit with the Liquidator, but space is limited near the pump/filter. What are the approximate dimensions of the 4 gallon model? Couldn't find that anywhere. Thanks!
