    Calcium Hardness in AGP

How important is it to track calcium hardness in an above ground pool? Our pool store is telling me that I rusted out our pool wall because of calcium hardness.

    Can't see the bottom

I went out of town and left the pool on care of family members. It was a little cloudy when I got home and now after a week it keeps getting worse. Wondering if I should go ahead and slam? Cl- 3.5 brought it up to 6 Cc - 0 Ph - keeps drifting up to 7.8 and more Cya- 50 Alk- 70

    PSI up after adding DE

I added 3/4 cup of DE to our sand filter today for the first time. The PSI started at 7 and went up one or two PSI after I added the last 1/4 cup, and now a couple hours later it's sitting at 14. I saw in the DE instructions that it could go up, but I'm wondering what do I do now that it has...

    Power cord is HOT

I noticed on Thursday night when I unplugged the pump that it was very hot. We have a grounded electrical outlet dedicated for the pool. This is our second season using it and never a problem before. The electrician couldn't come out until today because of the holiday weekend. When I told him I...

    Pool Down 8" after a 2" Rain...?

We had a downpour last evening and the water level was getting high in our AGP so I ran out and backwashed a couple of inches off the top. We were going to get rain all night and I didn't want it to overflow. When the level got to a good level I shut the pump off and set it back at "filter"...

What Materials to Surround AGP With?

We are looking for options for landscaping or whatever materials you all use around your AGP. We have a deck around half of our pool, and so far just clay dirt at the base of the other half. We originally thought we might put some shrubs around it, but I'm finding that we need to get right up...

    Pressure gauge stuck at 10

I think I already know the answer, but my pressure gauge doesn't go down to zero when the pump is off. Doesn't change when tap it either. It does go up to 18 when I turn it on which seems high. Am I correct to assume it needs to be replaced?

1 yr old Hayward pump not working, dealer making me crazy.

Ok, part of it is my fault. I posted here last June that our new pump was screeching, and I was told to return it. As I have chronic illness and we were struggling to get other contractors in here to finish the electricity and remove 3 truckloads of clay dirt from our muddy yard, I kept the pool...

Do I need to buy new test regents in spring?

I used the T 100 test kit all last year. Are those regents still good or do I need to get all new this spring?

    Slam during hot weather

We are doing our first ever slam on our new AG pool. We had lots of pool use in the hot weather and the fc went down to zero. I noticed the water looked really dull too. So...I am on day eight and was surprised that the OCLT went down from 18.5 to 15.5 last night. The water looks beautiful, it's...

Month old pump making a grinding noise.

We opened our new AG pool in June. There has been some sand/light gravel carried in from our unfinished yard and I have vacuumed it up. This week the pump is making almost a grinding noise and I back washed today. It sounded better for a minute then went back to the grinding noise. Could it be...

Just opened new AG pool today.

Hello, thanks for adding me here! After several months of issues, we got our AG 16x28 running. It rained a lot while they were installing the liner and starting to fill. Now we have bright sunshine today. I am wondering what to test for right off the bat, I did check Chlorine (1) and PH...

Planning new above ground partly buried pool

Hello, we are planning to put a 32x12 Doughboy in this spring, hoping to put it a couple of feet in the ground. The estimate we got from a pool store was $4000 for excavating and putting the pool in. They gave us an estimate of about $9,000 for the pool and all we need with it. This sounds very...
