The legal rules about copying information on the Internet are sometimes rather vague, or rather people's perception of those rules is vague. We feel it important to honor content creators, not just because of legal copyright, but because it is the right thing to do. If someone puts their time, talent and expertise into creating an article, they should be given credit when someone uses that content. There is certainly some grey areas when it comes to these things, but we would prefer to err on the side of caution.

So here is the rule:

When posting content from an outside source, be sure to give credit to the original author. If you are getting information from another website, include a link to the original source. When copying or quoting more than a couple of sentences, you must have permission from the original author.

The above rule is in addition to the rules older members agreed to when registering on this site.

In most cases, instead of copying, it is best to give a short summary and a link to the original source in it's original context.

Thanks,
JasonLion
