Hello all.
I bought a new home that has an old gunite pool (at least 10 years old... Maybe 50, I have no clue).
We tried to fill the pool but it would get 2/3rds full then it leaked as fast as we could fill it. Once we took the hose out it maintained that level.
I decided to drain, clean/scrub out the pool and noticed a few things.
1) there is a caulked joint around the bottom of the pool where the sides meet the bottom
2) there appears to be a crack in the pool
3) the pool appeared to fil to the level of a light that was clearly leaking but struggled to pass it
i am trying to replace and re-seal the light
what is the joint? Should I replace it? It appears there is either caulk or epoxy on top of older caulking? Should I replace all of it? In some areas the caulked area appears wide (1.5" instead of 1/2") should I patch that?
should I treat the crack as a problem?
should I do all three or one at a time? I have gone to the problem of creating a clean dry pool.... Should I attack all three?
thank you
