AC Wire Removal

While testing the AC voltage at the relays that are powered by the Aqua Logic Circuit Board, I inadvertently touched the leads and caused a short circuit on my 4th relay (1st relay is for pump, 2nd is for lights, 3rd and 4th aren't connected to anything). The 4th relay now constantly receives power from the board (It was initially controlled by the AuxOut2 switch on the display, but now it doesn't matter. The moment the circuit board receives power, it sends 24 Volts AC to this 4th Relay. It's not that big of a deal because it is not used by anything. But I'd like to preserve its life, so in case I need to remove it and use it in place of the 1st or 2nd relay going bad. The 1st relay that powers the pump is on the entire seasons, so I'm sure this'll be fine too if it stays powered, but still I'd like to preserve this one. So I'd like to remove the red or the black wire and secure them, so the 4th relay isn't powered. And that's my question here. This is 24 Volts AC current.

Should I remove the red wire and then secure it? or Should I remove black wire and then secure it? Should I remove both and secure both?
What's the best way to secure it? - Should I wrap electrical tape around it? or is there another safer method?

Thanks

Remove both wires and wrap the connectors with electrical tape.
