Hey there!! I have an intex 15x48 stock c1000 pump and the delux skinmer.

Pool is full of water, got the pump on. The return (blowing water) is great. I bought the skimmer put it on and there is no suction now.
Do i plug an intake? Yes i installed the skimmer correctly. It’s about an inch half under water the blue thing is bobbing. It’s on the furthest intake and stretched out a little. No suction at all not even a light amount. The filter is slightly dirty from the few hours i used it before installing the skimmer.

Also another question pool is full need to put chemicals in. I bought test trips and by reading these forums i have been told i need a taylor kit. Until i get that my strip said very low bromine very low chlorine and very hight alkalinity and ph. ( obvis nothings in it yet) i got a floater and 3 inch tabs. I got some ph down and some liquid chlorine.
What else do i need? Any specific brand.

Do i need to shock since the alkalinity is so high?

Thank you in advance.

Mc,

I don't know much about above ground pools, but basically your pump is gravity fed. Water should just flow out of the pool and into your pump, because your pool water is much higher than the pump.

Show us several pics of your set up, and maybe one of the above ground guys can spot something.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, photos to see your set-up. Did your pool come with 1 or 2 intakes? If 2, and you also cut in a skimmer, I would plug one of the intakes and see if that helps your skimming action. Or are you talking about the over the wall skimmer that is attached to one of your intakes? You won’t necessarily see a whirlpool, but any nearby debris should enter the skimmer. Toss a leaf near it and see what happens.

You can test flow easily by plugging the extra intake with one of the little black “hats” that came with pool. Watch pump basket and return to make sure flow doesn’t decrease.

You say you "cut in the skimmer" so I assume it's a through wall skimmer. On our pool I just plugged the two lower factory outlets with the supplied plugs and used only the skimmer. I don't know if this was correct or not but I had years of trouble free pooling with that setup.

Actually, I’m the one who initially said “cut in.” OP just said installed, so now I’m wondering which type of skimmer they have.

Over the wall skimmer. I took everything apart to see if something was clogged because there was no suction a little leaf wouldn’t even go in it.
I’ll try using a hat on one of the intakes to see if that might help. Should I upgrade pump? I would think stock should do at least the minimum

On the contrary, Intex pumps are supremely undersized for the pools they come with. So if the hat doesn’t help, a better pump might be a good idea.
