Hey guys, I did my normal opening routine this season but having a bit of trouble bringing FC level up. When I opened yesterday am I was at .5 FC. I brought salt up to 3000ppm fired up the Nano plus to 72 hour boost and ran the filter at 50gpm 24/7. My ph was low at 7.3 so I added Soda Ash as well. I also added polyquat Algicide. I have not checked CYA yet as I figured losing chlorine wasn't an issue just yet (cool temps and not a lot of sun right now).

Water is looking significantly better this morning however my FC level is unchanged, and I find that odd after 24hrs at 100%. Am I just being inpatient or perhaps is there something wrong with my cell?

Post a full set of test results. Generally more wise to add liquid chlorine to get up to proper level for CYA, then let SWCG maintain it.
If you have no CYA, then FC won't hold, that's a core tenant of TFP.

Not sure why you added algaecide.

Do you follow TFP methods generally? Curious why you raised pH?

What are your test results and how are you testing. SWCG are meant to maintain a good balanced water but it can't bring it up fast enough. You'll need liquid chlorine and do the testing....with a recommended test kit.

Test kit is in my signature, TF-Pro. The pool is less that 3 years old now, last season I followed the pool company's opening recommendations and it worked flawlessly: Aglicide and turn SWG on 72hr boost to bring chlorine level up. My test results are:

FC: .5
PH 7.3
TA 40
Salt 3000

I didn't test CYA or add stabilizer yet as I didnt think it was necessary to raise my FC. I thought CYA was necessary to maintain chlorine levels, no?

Post a FULL set of current test results from your TF-Pro

FC
CC
pH
TA
CH
CYA
Salt
Water temperature

When opening, mix the water well and always do the full suite of tests.
Don't add algaecide - it's only sometimes needed when closing to help prevent algae.

Use liquid chlorine to increase FC levels. The SWG is good to maintain FC, but not to raise it after opening.

We call that 'dump and pray'. Sometimes prayers are answered and sometimes not.

An Overnight Chlorine Loss Test is tangible proof of being ok. Or not ok. :)

Ch, CYA and salt need a full day of mixing before you can trust them. The others need 20 mins.
