Multiple SLAM attempts

Are you brushing the entire pool at least daily to stir the stuff up and allow the filter to filter it out?

No need to dose higher than SLAM levels - 16 FC for CYA of 40.

Sometimes it's slow and barely any progress is seen for a few days. Stay the course.
Some find that thpaking a picture daily - at about the same time of day - at the exact same place can aid in seeing progress. That's why i mentioned the steps. Some will use their pool brush on the pole at the same depth.

I’ve rarely gone 2 ppm below recommended slam level at any point and usually fill 2 ppm above recommended slam level. There has been a few occasions where I went 3-4 ppm under slam over night. I add liquid chlorine atleast 3-4 times per day.

Yea I brush sides and and bottom to stir up stuff. I have been vacuuming every other day.

I also have bottom drains and try to brush to the deep end. After I brush I vacuum after a few hours after bigger stuff settles. I feel like I’ve been on top of this as much as humanly possible.

I read somewhere I could have phosphates and that can be tested for???? Phosphates are like algae food. Is this a thing?

That is like 4-6 hours. I would predict the results you are getting. If you can, go to every 2 hours, particularly for a couple days, this will help you get ahead of it. I bet you will see progress.

Ignore phosphates, you can clear this.

Is it counter productive to go to 30 ppm chlorine just to try and bump past this stage? I’m confident in my CYA. I balanced pH to 7.2 before starting slam.
Yes. Above slam level will not help. Frequency will help...you are then maintaining the level that kills. You will kill no more with higher level.

My one and only slam, looked just like yours. I tested and replaced every 2 hours, 7am to 11pm. Cleared in 5 days. It is about frequency, particularly early, to get ahead of growth. I also had a July 4th family weekend coming, so I was MOTIVATED!

The FC level for doing a SLAM is sufficient. It is high enough to kill algae, but not too high as to affect equipment.
At FC levels about SLAM level, the chlorine biurns off faster as well.

My brain says “more chlorine better”. Guess I’ll have to trust chemistry. Lol. I’ll add chlorine more often during the day to maintain 20 ppm. Usually don’t go below 18 Ppm before bumping back up to 20+

Are you scrubbing everything? Skimmers, weir doors, check weir foam for algae? Do you have a tube ladder? Take it out and scrub in the tubes. Leave it out. Do you have a main drain or lights? When the pool clears a bit more, we will want to scrub behind the light and the main drain (not now, not safe to be in pool when you can't see the bottom).

One more thought. How are you managing the filter. You should do a good backwash. Note filter pressure (let's say it is 12 when clean). When the filter pressure rises to 15 (25% above clean pressure), you should backwash. Add this check into your routine. Take pictures for yourself, 9, 3, end of day. Use a picture of the steps at first to note progress.

Frequency and diligence should provide you results.

The other thing to ask is about whether a pool cover is in use? Some of the goofy long SLAMs often have a pool cover thats “dirty”. Thought it good to bring it up.
