We got a heavy rain today and we are supposed to get more. My pools is up to the top of the skimmer. I’ll include a pic. The pool installer has a fitting for a hose coming right off the pump. I have a hose hooked up, but water is coming out pretty slow. Can I turn off the return valve to pump water out the hose faster?IMG_3686.jpegIMG_3685.jpegIMG_3685.jpeg
 
You can pinch off the return valve but I would not close it completely.

You should consider getting a sump pump for these times.
 
Is that your only drain option? My PB put in a 1.5” pipe to attach to and drain out. I have to imagine a standard hose would take a while.
 
Ordered this yesterday from Amazon and was delivered overnight, used it first thing this morning. Works great, takes a little while with a regular garden hose, but it did the job. Both of my skimmers were completely covered this morning with more rain expected tonight in OK.
Now I won’t be stressing as much when it rains, my auto level doesn’t work fast enough for my level of comfort zone~ $59IMG_5268.png

I always forget about harbor freight. We even have one local. I bought a sump style at Home Depot for $109. It’s not super fast, but that works out for where I’m draining, it doesn’t flood the area.
 
Sorry I'm late to the party but if anyone can return their pumps, here's a 5177 GPH (with 1.5 inch hose) stainless pump for $93.
