Epoxy Paint Over Old Plaster???

Thoughts on applying double coats of thick epoxy paint over old plaster to get me through the next two summers? Just purchased a home and cannot afford a new plaster job. 4 different quotes in California and they’re all $11k.

The plan is to scrape and pressure wash all loose plaster. Then float skim new plaster over spots if needed. Then throughly clean and apply the epoxy application.

And bit of wisedom or advice will be helpful!

Is your existing plaster holding water and not leaking?

If so, run it as is until you have the money to replaster.

Yes, I don’t notice any leaks. I hear you about doing it the right way but god Dang it’s ugly in its current form
Dont have an answer for you but a question. How big is the pool? 11k including removing the old plaster?
22k gallons. The $11k includes the chipping of old plaster and installing new tile line ($1200).

If the pool holds water, fill it up and make do for a year or two.

Epoxy paint won't hold up well at all to pool chemicals - no matter what the manufacturer or supplier tells you.

My plaster was trashed when I bought my house. Nobody noticed it. Nobody cared. Nobody noticed or cared after I replaced it, either.
