Way to directly test if Bromine is present?

Maybe I’m overthinking for the point I’m at, BUT, since I’m still slamming, I’m inevitably going to have to backwash again at some point. I have my cya at 30. When I have to do a 2 minute or so backwash (20,000 gallon pool) should I add a little more cya?

No -

Picture of feeder?

There is really no way to tell without sending a water sample to a lab that can test for bromide.

I would convert to SWG and see how it goes.

If necessary, you can dilute to remove whatever might be in the water.

Can you post a full set of water chemistry results including salinity?
Salt test finally got here. It’s 600ppm. Not SWCG, using liquid chlorine, but the equipment pad does have that pentair feeder.

The zero CYA result indicates low or no tab use.

The 600 salt indicates about 370 ppm FC from liquid chlorine, which might be from about 100 to 150 days of adding liquid chlorine.

If the fill salinity is 300 ppm, then that is maybe 50 to 75 days of adding liquid chlorine.

It's possible that they used bromine, but unless you see a bromine tab bucket, there is no reason to think that they probably used bromine tabs.

Maybe the pool was drained and refilled before you bought it?

At this point, I would just operate as normal and see how it goes.

I would switch over to SWG.

Wellllll, they did also admit in that same post that they were a Leslie’s store manager…
I deleted the old post so it's never is an issue again.

I have a love/hate relationship with old threads. Sometimes they aged well, other times notsomuch. Or the new reader doesn't inherently understand how the old OP's pool is different from theirs and that advice.......... if it aged well....... isn't for them.

And then occasionally a Leslie's manager fell through the cracks and should have been deleted that day. Thanks for pointing it out. (y)

I completely agree! I also noticed looking at his profile that he joined one day, then was never heard from again 2 days later 🤣
