Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! *PICS THREAD*

Is the snow fence for the doggo’s or the kiddos?
It's the dogaway9000. The basset was digging in for traction on the brand new $3500 cover and ripping it.

So I had to build a fence to protect the cover meant to protect the dogs.

Harry Houndini made it his winter mission to teleport inside anyway, but most of the time it was too much trouble.

Very shortly after pulling the cover. My 14 year old son was still helping dump the water bags.

And my wife got this yesterday; my 3 year old son helping me "count drops" as I did the first test after topping the water and adding some salt on Saturday.

I pulled the cover back to check the water level and it was crystal clear. I was surprised because it's a mesh cover. I have worms in the deep end. I'd like to pull the cover soon but don't want to be like @Newdude.
Me too, crystal clear water with the usual worms that tried the frontal assault and were mowed down in mass. Vacuumed out and ready to roll. Autocover on and ready for the season. Chemicals going in on Friday.

Letting her help on the useless CH test that doesn't matter for us vinyl folks. SMART !!! :goodjob:

'Look at THAT Sweetie....... it's FIFTY !!!' :ROFLMAO:
I thought that keeping the CH in check does play a role in preventing scale on the SWG?

Also, Silas is a boy. He just likes his long hair. (But don't worry, that happens a lot!) And edited the post for future clarity-Just like the pool!

Did I quick scroll through the pic. Sorry. :ROFLMAO:

It does but your fill water likely isn't adding much like it would in the southwest. PoolMath links are still down, what was the CH ?
400

I am pretty sure our water softener isn't really softening anything... I thought I got it going about a year ago, but haven't had to add any salt to it even though on occasion I've woken up hearing it going through the regen cycle. I have one outdoor faucet that doesn't run through it, so I really need to test and compare.

Did my soft-open on Saturday, didn't realize there was a pic thread going. Threw in the new robot (name-still-in-progress) to grab the couple of leaves, suicidal worms, and fished what I can only guess used to be a frog out of the skimmer well, but other than a little cloudiness which I'm thinking is mostly just dirt/dust off of the mesh cover, it's basically crystal clear. It's a bit brisk tho - 48F is probably optimistic...I think closer to 44 is probably more likely. Pump is now running on super-low, just enough to keep things moving until it starts to warm up here in the next few weeks and I can face turning the heater on !

Ours was about 53 degrees yesterday. The 14 year old really wanted to get in... But when it came down to it, it took him about 10 minutes to work up the guts to actually jump in, and he was in only for the amount of time it took to jump in and swim to the edge.

Silas, the 3 year old, was actually razzing him a bit about how long it was taking! lol

Hahahaha ! I would’ve paid BIG MONEY to have even seen the bottom at all, let alone be able to actually see a worm 🪱
Having found TFP, and by following the advice here, I no longer pay big money for a crystal clear pool ;)

The title says it all. For those who close their pools for the winter and open in the spring, I wanna see your water right after you remove the cover and before cleaning, SLAM, etc.! Whether crystal clear or green swamp, let’s see it!
I posted pics of mine. Keep in mind, I closed November 1st and opened March 16th, LOL. My dark liner hides the dirt well, but I fished at least 20 worms out of there 🥴. Somehow my FC was 9 when I opened. Very strange. lol now it’s y’all’s turn. NO CHEATING!!!!!! 🤣

PoolMath numbers opening day after running pump for 4 hours or so…

^^^^^ Liner is only on its third season and already fading. Oh well, I don’t like it anyways and want a different design. 😁

Keep this thread going! Whether you open in March, April, May, June, whatever! And again, no cheating! 😎
How do those dang worms get in there???!!!

We won't open the pool for another few weeks yet but with all the rain we've had, I had to crack a corner of the cover and get the sump pump in there to start lowering the water. This is shallow end, the basket thing the pump is sitting on is on the bottom so it's not looking too bad. Plenty of worms and dirt but water is looking clear.

*sigh*

The grand opening is canceled. Going scorched Earth on the acre instead. :(

It has to be done.
