Greetings from the Commonwealth of VA! My name is Mike, and we had our pool installed the first week of October 2023 and closed it 6 weeks later. I just opened it again this past weekend and was surprised at how clean and clear it was. I guess those $300 in chemicals the pool store sold me and had me add did something right :). Upon testing all my chemicals were in range, except pH was a little on the low end at 7.1. Added 5lbs 12oz of Borax and up to 7.8 today. My sister-in-law has been using the TFP method with her pool and couldn't be happier with the results and the cost savings, so here I am, looking to NOT spend another $300 in closing chemical cost, and NOT spend the "expected $600-$1000" in seasonal chemicals. I have been through the pool school pages a couple times, reviewed the FC/CYA chart, and used the search feature to find discussions on just about any question I have had so far. I am trying to wrap my head around the numbers that TFP uses vs what the store water test results say I should be using. My guess, it's to sell me more "stuff." So I will be starting off our first full year with our pool using the TFP method and looking forward it learning. Picture below is right after taking off the cover. Glad to be here!
