New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

R,

The one I have (EVO 614iQ) initially had no scheduling at all, or automation mode.

But that has now changed and you can schedule it to run using the app. It allows you to set up a daily schedule for each week day. And, unlike the Dolphin, it does not shut off after a week, it just keeps rerunning the same weekly schedule.

Thanks,

Jim R.

A new feature to look forward to here in a few weeks when I open up! Awesome!

Cay,

I have no way to tell for sure... But, the layout of the basket and impeller on the EVO is very different than on the Dolphin, so my 'guess' would be that you would not have the same issue..

It could not be any worse than what you have now, and I suspect it would be much better, but have no way to know that for sure.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim! I'm still debating beween this EVO and adding a valve for a dedicated Polaris 360 return line (old Polaris 280 line before I removed the booster pump). I'm leaning towards the EVO (thank you for your super informative review!) but worried about the impeller being wrapped up with little palm spine threads. my Warrior SE has been dead for 4 months just manually brushing now and heavily chrolinated. are you able to take a pic of the impeller from the top? or @Killer95Stang if you can get to it (good to know it doesnt tangle cords. nice leaves basket looking great :)

Folks,

I'm following this closely since I'm about to order all the equipment for my OB pool under construction. Looks like it can now work in automation mode. Just want to confirm what this means. I would like to plug the unit in to a smart controlled receptacle so it comes on when there is power scheduled and goes off when power is turned off. I need this to happen with no additional user intervention like pressing an on switch. Can and of you with the updated model confirm this?

Thanks.

Chris

Chris,

I do not know if the EVO works in what Dolphin calls the "Automation mode" or not.. It may, but I have no clue..

The EVO has an app and you just schedule the robot to run.. The app shows all the days of the week and you just set the times you want the robot to run.. You could set a different time for each day, but not sure why anyone would do that.

The good thing about the EVO is that the schedule does not expire in a week like the Dolphin..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Need to put in my order soon, anyone with this robot able to take a clear picture of the impeller area while you're cleaning the trash basket? Trying to see how it is protected from hair/palm tree spine from wrapping around it like the dolphin. my pool has 5 palm trees around/over it and it's a tough choice vs a Polaris 360.

beautiful pictures @Jimrahbe ! Great design. And thank you for pointing out the seals on top of the basket. It does look like the impeller area is much better protected from debris vs a dolphin, it also shoots water straight up the yellow outlet creating better flow? Motor looks to be better sealed as well below that impeller, so I'm betting it will last much longer than the 3 year life span of the dolphin S200. I'm sold! will return the 360.

Are those blades hard, dull plastic and not sharp metal like the dolphin? more resistance. edit: Dolphin also has plastic impeller, not metal, so they're very similar to the EVO.

Been following this. What it the best place to buy?
Try Marina Pool and Spa.

They don't post prices online. You have to call and talk to Margaret on the phone or email them to get a quote. It might help to tell her you were referred by TFP. Margaret is well aware of who TFP is, and she knows her in's and out's about robots.
I've bought 2 robots from her. One of them was 100 less than what I found anywhere else online and the other one was 75 less.
They don't charge sales tax if you are outside of Colorado. Free shipping.

Hello folks. I’m quite new to this. This summer will be our second full season with our first in ground pool (Had a round above ground pool for several years before that). Last summer I cleaned my pool manually which was a pain. Looking to get a robotic pool cleaner and this thread has been very helpful. Based on all of the feedback here, I believe that the Evo 614iQ is the right choice for us. Being from the great white north, pool season is still about two months away, but trying to get my ducks all lined up for that.

Thanks again for all the great info.

Thank you. Ordered one on Friday from them and supposedly arriving tomorrow. Easy communication.

Shipment arrived on time today, so a quick review.

  1. TFP and Marina Pool & Spa are awesome
  2. This was a replacement for a Dolphin Premier that basically cratered after being in use since 2019. If you need parts or need a power unit (2023) let me know.
  3. Install time 15 minutes. Probably less than 10 needed, but between internet connection issues, tools, and finding a place for the controller a few minutes more were needed.
  4. Leaves and fines. First run pictures are provided below (second run in progress).
    1. Leaves - old Dolphin and Leave Rake had knocked most out, but there were plenty of stragglers to test. Appears to be doing well.
    2. Fines - This was my largest concern. With the deck and features being flagstone/rock. Plenty of fines to test. Fairly impressed with the screen in the system shipped.
  5. Overall - so far unit appears to be great replacement at a reasonable price.
