Hello,

I purchased PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP Salt PL2625 in 2019. Last season I attempted to rebuild it because I had a slow leak at the pump/motor interface I wanted to fix, so I might as well do the bearing and stuff too. There were some issues and back and forth with INYO about the exact gasket for the big interface part not being in the kit, etc. I got it running but it was still leaking slightly (I would've been better off not touching it). Towards the end of the season, the motor started to sound like it had gravel in it. Super loud, super bad. It made it the last couple weeks until closing, but I assume I need a new pump/motor.

Since mating them/building them went badly last time, is my best bet the Pureline Titan 2 HP Variable Speed Pool Pump - PL2516 - INYOPools.com pump as a replacement? It looks like the 1.65HP isn't made anymore. I was certainly hoping to get more than 5 seasons out of something so expensive, but maybe that's now how things are made anymore. I was super careful not to touch the bearing race at all, keep everything clean and use the lube and put it in the correct direction, so I'm not sure what happened, but I almost certainly toasted the motor with a bad bearing install, right?

They have a 1.5HP VSP that's $100 cheaper, I assume I could get away with that as well? Is that worth the savings?

The motor is the expensive part anyway, so I don't see a benefit of buying just a motor and having to deal with mating it to my pump (which has beat up drain plugs anyway leading to a slight leak because they use cheap plastic Darn).

I'd get a Calimar VSP. It's the same pump, with the same warranty, with a different sticker on it for much less $.
Thanks, looks promising. I assume since I have 2" quick disconnects on my previous pump, I can just unscrew the pump side and re-use those unions, and any other plumbing I need to adjust for distances and stuff I can just grab from the local hardware store, right?
