Rheem / Raypak 406A Gas Pressure Issues - Fixed, Now Will Not Start

If I have to have the gas piping rerouted, then I might as well have the PVC rerouted as well. I suppose this means I am not married to the 406A and that I will be getting a pro to do it.

I have removed the tree that was above the old unit. However, I still have a lot of trees around. Debris will get into the unit and I would need to clean it periodically.

I saw that the Pentair was recommended. It is "sealed"? Anyone have another recommendation as well as where to find it? Or, should I just go through a pro? I am in Atlanta, GA.

Thank you,
LJP

If you want to get a new RayPak, it would be a very easy re-plumb to get rid of that flex and install a proper drip leg, especially for an experienced plumber who has all the plumbing tools. Three elbows, a union, a tee, 3 pipe nipples that may have to be special length.
For me it would mean a couple of trips to the property and Home Depot, never did enough to invest in a pipe threader.
Regardless of what is installed, there should also be a gas valve at the appliance to shut the gas off if the heater needs to be serviced.

We have a shut off valve at the unit. First thing up from the ground on the incoming gas line.

Any advice on getting a unit for a good price whether it be Raypak/Rheem or Pentair?
Raypak Avia or Pentair Mastertemp are the units I would recommend. I would just replace the unit and have it professionally installed and avoid all the trouble and stress.
Piece of mind to not worry about if,or when the unit might stop working again (so that way when you want to use your heater you can just turn it on)is not worth dealing with that in my experience.
