Two-Year-Old Pool Major Discoloration and Bleaching

Looks great! I think people get really scared about acid washing (and often for the right reasons), but sometimes there -are- reasons for an acid wash that can really be beneficial. I've done it before, usually diluted 25/50, 50/50, or 75/25 depending where/why, with some outstanding results, but you definitely need to be careful doing it, and not overdoing it.

If you remove a bottom manifold bolt, does water come out?

If yes, then the heat exchanger is probably leaking.

Heaters can be dangerous if they are not working 100% correctly and any defects need to be corrected.

Heaters should never be used if there are any known or suspected defects.

I think we're going to keep it for now and monitor. It only gets to 98, so we'll see how we enjoy it. Also will monitor copper levels weekly.
At a minimum you need to have the gas line corrected, either by a licensed gas contractor or by your propane supplier. As installed it is undersized and does not meet code or pentair requirements.

Hey, All!

Nine months post acid wash, the pool still great. However this valve sprung a leak after a freeze. Any idea on the fix? It looks like an overly-engineered backflow valve. Can I replace with something simpler?

Thank you!

Thank you!
If you replace with similar product, the upstream blue handle valve can be closed and then turn the small screw valves can be opened to drain the backflow valve. This will prevent water freezing in it.

Those are backflow valves they’re pretty standard not cheap. Replace it and the next time it drain it before it’s gonna freeze.

Hi Team,

Thanks for the help. Two issues: The fix-it kit has a diameter that's too big for the actual part. Also looks like another issue is the tip of this plastic cylinder is broken? Does anyone know the name of this part so I can order it? Thank you so much!
