I just purchase a used sta rite 400 and after getting everything plugged and wired up I tried cutting it on and it shuts off after just seconds. I do not hear anything kicking on. It lights up says “128 R13” and then the lights go off and it won’t do anything. Any help would be much appreciated.

That's the boot up code for the heater's software. If it gets no further than that, the keypad membrane or main control board may need to be replaced.
Are there any or the error lights on the back of the board "on?" A bad SFS will not allow it to go any further.

I installed a new board today and it seems to work. But now I have a new problem. The unit kicked on and ignited but seemed to put off a lot of heat quickly and now the manifold is leaking and causing smoke. The unit is saying the temp is 126.
Yes I believe it was coming from water dripping from the manifold. It was white smoke
Could a stuck thermal regulator cause enough pressure build up to make the manifold leak?
Where is the leak? What is the pressure on the filter gauge? That much restriction in a heater would show up at the filter as well.

Maybe you plumbed it backwards?

Maybe the heater is 30 years old and it is a piece of junk and that's why the seller wanted to get rid of it?

I’m not sure of the age. I was told it worked but it was already uninstalled when I bought it so I got a deal on it
