AGP Oval Adding Discharge

My 18 x 32 Oval currently has the only discharge port about in the middle of the straight edge. I would like to add a second port to get a better flow to allow the skimmer to work better. I want to do this BEFORE I add water for the season. Where would be the best location to put the discharge port?

One return jet is about center of the straight portion, 3 ft down is the skimmer, I was wondering if I put the new return about 1/3 way around the corner which would be another 5 foot. the two return jets would be about 9 or 10 ft apart.

Should I rent a Electricians Knockout punch to get a clean edge? I'm worried if I use a drill and hole saw that I might get metal shavings between the liner and side.

That a good question. Metal shavings would be bad.

With a punch you will still need to drill a hole to get the shaft in.
You should pull back the liner to drill/punch the hole no matter the method. Then cut the liner later after the water is closer & the liner is set back in place.
You can tape some rags or plastic around the area to collect shavings.
