Leak at light

I didn't want to start a new thread but I didn't find one that wasn't old to add my info to. My liner seems to have a small tear at the bottom of the pool light. The individual that found it fixes pool leaks and said the water needs to be lowered so he can put sealant around the tear, inside the light where it mounts to the pool and outside.

My concern is lowering the water down below the light and the liner drying out. How long is too long to let the water down that low? The water temp is currently 59°. He had the microphone and let me listen. When the mic got close to the light you could hear the water leaking out. With a mirror you can see the little tear at the bottom of the light.

We are leaking out about 1" a day from what I can tell. He pressure tested the returns and skimmers and they all held pressure.

I'm just afraid of the liner drying out. Thanks

The liner won't "Dry out", but it might lose the set if you lower the water too much.

As long as you have at least 1 foot of water in the shallow end, that is usually enough to keep the liner set unless the liner is too small and stretched out too much.
