Pool pump replacement help

Hello everyone, first post here!

I have a 19,000 gallon pool with 1.5” piping. My single speed 1HP Emerson 1081 pump motor just died. I know I will have to go VS on my new pump.

Will I be able to go with a larger HP pump like the Calimar 3HP and size down the piping from 2” to 1.5” or will I have to go with the 1.5HP model that comes with 1.5” piping? Thank you!
