I have to add a lot of calcium chloride to my pool based on PM and my almost draining mistake. Tested today and PM showed 0 CH. And to achieve 250 I need 16lbs CC. I know it says on the package CC Icemelt pellets. 
Is this suitable for CH

I dont understand, I accidently drained the pool . I had to refill 85% to 90% of the water and now fixing my mistake. I tested with my Taylor kit like always. The solution never turned red to indicate CH. I just retested to verify. If there is any CH in the water I cant see it turn red at all

What water supply did you use to fill the pool? It is very rare for water to have no CH.

The Waxahachie water supply report shows about 100 ppm CH
I think Marty means your testing might somehow be the issue. Maybe make sure you’re reagents aren’t expired and your using the right one.
77 and 100 are both more than zero. Something is off with the testing.
I still haven't got an answer on the post. Is that product I posted suitable to use or should I use a pool labled product.? I am under the assumption(haha) that calcium chloride is just that. No matter how its advertised.

I believe PuriTech sells pure CaCl2 via amazon. Ice melt can have other additives than CaCl2.
I kind of figured that about the testing. Much appreciated by all. Have ordered all new reagents for the CH testing. I think we are all in agreement about the testing. However the post has gotten away from my original question about the product I showed.

The Bare Ground spec sheet has a comment "60-100% Calcium Chloride. Exact amount is a trade secret." So it's a gamble. A couple of years ago I asked a Bare Ground rep if it was pure, and she said yes, but the pellets are hard to dissolve. I used one box and it was fine as far as I know. The CH increase matched PoolMath and I've had zero water problems in 3.5 years as a pool owner. (Thanks TFP.)
But since then I've switched to the Bare Ground Flakes product that's explicitly for pools. I can get it here in NC for $50 delivered from Tractor Supply. The $15 extra is worth it for peace of mind imo. The gas and time running to Home Depot are saved, too.
