Hi, really need help…

Ichlor 30 and it’s about a 16k gallon pool.

I have it around 10 when it’s running. The massive cloudiness has happened since adding DE to skimmer because I now see it around light in pool at night as well in addition to bubbles

You have no automation to reduce the SWG generation when in spa mode.

With your SWG % generation set for your pool, when it is generating into the spa it is generating a lot into a smaller body of water.

Next time you are in the spa turn the SWG down to 0 and see if you no longer see the cloudiness.

Remember to turn the SWG back to its pool setting when you are done with the spa.

The bubbles are from the swg - they are harmless.

my spa flows into the pool consistently and there is no way to turn them off independent?

Your filter will eventually catch it all.
You can buy 1 micron slime bags to put on your returns to help catch it as well if you’re impatient although it’ll probably be gone by the time they arrive.
DE is really only dangerous when inhaled in its dry form - the small amount in the pool water is not a threat.

Thank you so much... I put 1 lb of DE in and feel like I got at least half out... Still consider safe to swim if my 5 year old swallows it accidently? Also, which bag and how do I connect?

Will the cartridge filter eventually get rid of the D.E?

Also, what do you think those thousands of particles in front of the light could be? they look like either specks of something or tiny tiny bubbles?

Thank you all so much for helping… I was thinking about draining pool and starting over with a water truck to fill it
Those are called the "fines," particles too small to be trapped by the filter. Or, it could be dust that just hasn't made it to the bottom or the skimmer. With the bright light of a pool light they show up. You can never get rid of all the tiny debris that falls into a pool 24/7.

People ingest de on purpose although it is usually food grade.
It should pass right through like all the other dissolved solids he swallows while in the pool.

Btw- if you had a sand filter & were adding DE it would only be a cup or so - 1# seems like a whole lot.

Just had pool resurface to pebble tec 2 months ago. They just started the salt system about 3 weeks ago. From start up to now in front of my lights at night there are thousands of what appears to be tiny tiny bubbles or something else flowing by in both the pool and the hot tub. I wasn’t sure if it was bubbles (still not sure) or debris. My local pool store recommended putting about a pound of D.E into my skimmer so that my new Hayward cartridge filter would catch small debris.

As soon as I dumped it in the skimmer cloudiness appears in my spa and then went away. Now every couple of hours my spa gets milky white then clears in 15 minutes for another few hours.

The thousands of specks are still there 4 days later and now I keep rinsing my cartridge filter to get the D.E out.

Thoughts on the DE issue and also the thousands of specks of something or bubbles?
Check on Amazon for new cartridges. I buy 4 for about $170. That will eliminate the DE variable

I have a pentair ichlor 30…. I was told to keep sales between 3500-4000

When underwater with goggles I see. What I think is salt… like I’m in the ocean. There is a slight taste of salt as well… that normal?

I think this may also be why the pool like crystal clear until nighttime in front of the lights where I see thousands of particles in front of the light…

Thoughts?

Per the ichlor users manual, your levels should be between 3000-4500 with ideal at 3600ppm.
Some people are more sensitive to the taste of salt. I can get a very very slight taste of it in my pool at 3400ppm.
You should not be able to see salt in the pool after it is fully dissolved. Not to mention it would sink to the bottom.
The particles are dust, dirt, or even algae in the pool. Post your test results for review. To confirm it's not algae, do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.
You can try cleaning your filter. How long do you run your pump for?
