Any reason not to get generic Hayward T-CELL-15?

Hayward Turbo Cell (T-CELL-5)
In reading past threads here the OEM Hayward cell was closer to $450, well that's now doubled. The cheapest I can find is $920otd with a 3 year warranty. On the other hand, I can pick up the CircuPool CIR-GEN15 (Aftermarket Cell) also with a 3 year warranty for $612otd. There may also be a Calimar unit even cheaper than that. I could see spending a little bit more to go OEM but we're talking >$300 and they have the same warranty. Am I missing something?

If it matters, this is for my existing Goldline ProLogic controller and I'm switching to a salt system for the first time.

We see more problems with new generic cells then genuine Hayward.

If you want to take the chpancetta of hassles then go for it.

Read the warranty. Hayward warranty is not prorated and if the cell fails in year 3 they give you a new cell. Most clone companies prorate warranties.

Youre right. Per Circupool:
Year One - No charge for parts.
Year Two - No charge for parts.
Year Three - Parts supplied at 2/3 of base price

However, Hayward states:
- Standard Salt cells are covered for 3 years parts only when purchased individually.
- 'W' Salt cells are covered for 1 year parts only.

So, despite Inyopools and everyone else pitching it as 3 years, it's actually 1 year per Hayward right?
"MODEL # W3T-CELL-15
WARRANTY 3 YEAR WARRANTY"

Obviously, the prorated 3y vs 1y would be a no-brainer but even if they are both 3 (which it doesn't look like Hayward is) does that justify the premium?

Call Inyo and inquire on what Hayward cell you will actually get and the warranty.

Hmmm, I suspect the comment about W salt cells refers to warranty replacement cells, not new cells. This is from the Hayward website about the warranty on W3 sku cells;

Personally, the track record of a more reliable user experience makes it worth it.
Alright I'm sold. I already sent them an email but I think what you provided clears up the warranty issue. I guess OEM Hayward it is. On the plus side, I should be just a hair over $1100otd to install and set all this up (PVC, cell, switch, couplings, salt, conditioner). If my rough estimates are right, I should still break even in less than 2 years.
