Warrior SE died what's next

I brought a Pentair Warrior se from Marina pool and spa. It broke about 1.5 years later. The motor unit was replaced under warranty and now has died less than a year later. Pentair will not cover it now that is out of its 2 year warranty period. I did take the warrior apart and found the impellar motor must have taken on water and was rusted out. Before the Warrior we had a polaris 280 that never broke but required I brush the pool which I didn't have to do with the robot. Not sure if I should just go back to a polaris suction cleaner or try another pool robot. I liked the robot but spending almost $1000 every 2 years if it keeps breaking kind of ridiculous. I know people have had better success with their robot than I did. Ideally there is a product that I can fix myself. Are aquabots easier to fix. If so what model is similar to the warrior se. Thanks everyone for their help. This resource and people in it have been amazing. :)

Sorry for your loss 😢
I don’t know of any robots currently that are very serviceable aside from their tracks & such. All of their motors are likely pricey no matter the brand.

*If you bought your bot originally with a credit card check to see if that card offers extended warranty protection. It can often give you an extra year of coverage. Not sure it would fully solve your dilemma but perhaps soften the blow if you can possibly recoup some $$ from the ordeal. The way mine worked was that I had to purchase the replacement & was then reimbursed up to the amount I purchased the original for. May be worth a shot.

I have a similar dilemma , I am going to be testing the Aiper Elite Pro which I got on Amazon and arrived last night. I figure if it is no good it is an easy return process with Amazon and I might try another one. Plus Amazon has another warranty I could add that might be worth it, not sure but I did like my bot but 3 years was a disappointing life.

Going to try the Aiper Elite pro also. If that doesn't work out I'll try the Pro when it is released in March. I like the idea of buying the 3 year warranty to give 5 years of warranty. I'll report back how the Elite pro works.

Some/many extra warranties you buy actually sit on top of the original warranty so they don’t completely add all that time to it.
Example-
manuf. warranty is 2yrs if it breaks because of defects.
Extended warranty is 3 years & includes accidental damage & mfr.defects - this starts the day you purchase/take possession, but the defect coverage is only for the 3rd year although the accidental is for the whole time overlapping the mfr defect warranty.
Be sure to read the fine print.

I'm going thru the same saga as every Warrior SE owner it seems...died slightly out of warranty and only does the startup self test.

Trying to file a claim with my credit card has been a nightmare, as they require a repair estimate and nobody within 100 miles will even look at this piece of junk.

Does anyone know of a service place near DFW that would actually look at this thing? They don't even have to fix it, just say it's unfixable, or needs a motor for $xx.xx

I can buy and replace the motor but I still need a piece of paper that says that's what it needs so I can get reimbursed.

Any other ideas?

Have you contacted maytronics/pentair? They may cover it if the warranty just expired. They also may go through some diagnostics with you over the phone & email you the quote if they want to charge.
Also, where did you purchase it? May start there

Got it from Marina almost 3 years ago now, so pretty well out of warranty even though it started dying late last summer/fall. Still out of warranty either way. I did email Marina to see if they could help at all. I've contacted Pentair and they've told me I'm pretty much SOL. They gave me a list of people but none of them would look at it.

If nothing else good happens, guess I'll patch up the Zodiac suction cleaner, at least that sort of works.

My saga and opinion on robots is well documented. I do not recommend them to anyone unless you accept the fact that you’ll get 3-5 years of useful life out of them before having to replace. It’s the Apple/Samsung/Smartphone revenue model - they don’t want you fixing them, they want you to buy the latest.

Suffice it to say that I went back to using my suction cleaner and I’m happier for it.

Mine died yesterday, little over 3 years old..I recommended them and loved mine but $700 is too much for a 3 years cleaner!
I am pretty sure my impeller motor is also bad..I agree with Matt and not going to through any more money at it but going back to the polaris 360. Plus I honestly think the polaris did a better job with leaf's..Didn't get the fine dirt up but I can live with that.
Bought a used one off Mercadi for $220 that looks new..Worse case ( I hope ) is it needs rebuilding but a $110 rebuild kit is better then a $450 motor!!

I took mine apart and the propeller motor has water in it. Bearings don't feel bad so guessing its shot.
NOW has anybody found a place to buy dolphin parts? I found a used motor for $125 on ebay but too much for a used part that might also be damaged

Careful with eBay parts. They are sometimes from overseas sellers that scavenge broken bots and collect spare used parts. You’d have no idea if the motor is operational until you plug it in and the zero guarantees on how long it will last.

I have been told that there are ways for legit Dolphin repair shops to specially order the motors (drive and impeller) from Maytronics directly but you’d have to bargain with the shop to get it. That means paying for the motor and any up-charge the shop wants to add to make the sale happen.

Perhaps this is something we could inquire about with Marina? Are they an authorized service center?

I have asked previously and was told that they can not get the drive motors. I’ve only ever seen a listing for the drive motor, never the impeller motor.

I have the Pentair Warrior SI and motor got replaced twice within 6 months and is giving the same problem. I am still under warranty, let's see what Pentair says. What upsets me is that I was going to get a Dolphin from Marina and the lady on the phone recommended me to get the Pentair brand since there are better. I know Maytronics makes both robots but with all that bad experience they should of known not to recommend Pentair. Maybe they just want to get rid of their Pentair inventory.

cal,

I can't talk for Marina, but there is no difference between the Pentair Warrior and the S200 or the Active 20, etc. Other than the color they are all made with the same internal parts by the same manufacturer.

I guess my point is that you should be mad at Maytronics, the manufacturer, and not Pentair, who is just basically a dealer.

Thanks,

Jim R.

For quite some time the pentair warrior was just what was available there as all the other s200 equivalents were sold out. They also had rebates which the dolphin branded ones did not so Marina recommended them for those reasons to alot of people.
As Jim mentioned the warrior si is just a dolphin in different clothes.
