Above ground pool. Any issues with placing these in above ground pool? The weights contain gravel. I’m worried about the steps/weights tearing the vinyl liner. Also, if ok to use, any ideas on where to get posts for the steps (See small holes 2nd step from top)

I have these

I used countrytime lemonade containers filled with concrete & sealed with duct tape in the tube to prevent an algae home & 4 concrete filled bleach jugs sealed with duct tape hanging underneath.
My liner is fine- there are little suction cups on the bottom of my steps. I also drilled lots of xtra holes to promote circulation & so i can scrub the nooks & crannies .

They came with them - they are mostly a cushion- they don’t really keep the steps in place too much.
Gravel is probably better than sand but any nook/cranny that gets wet but doesn’t circulate is an invitation for algae.
Do a google image search 🔍 & see if u can find replacement parts for those steps once u figure out what kind they are.

Here’s the parts page - everything is expensive 😳
the hand rails are just pvc with stainless bolts & nuts - if u are handy u can probably make something similar for much cheaper & bolt it up. That’s my plan if the kiddos break mine .

If there are feet with little holes they might be for the suction cups - i feel like my local pool store carries them because they sell pools & the steps
I probably have suction cup $ just not that handrail kinda $$ 🤣🤣

OK, first off if the weights are not sealed algae will grow inside. I used to empty my stair weights weekly and add 60% algaecide inside. There is not flow thru the weights. I would pull the stairs bi-weekly and brush under & behind them. Easier to do from the deck. I also added smaller holes in the sides to "promote" more flow thru them. Red rectangles OEM holes, Yellow circles my holes. Smaller so little kids can't get their hands stuck.

I did not have a mat or suction cups on the bottom. I also dumped the pea gravel in my weights yearly and washed the new pea gravel in a chlorine solution. Picture below is stairs out and weights draining/drained.

And I second what kim said about keeping the bottom smooth. 16 years with the same liner, just sun faded with gin clear water.

Is there a way to seal the weights? Perhaps silicone or sealant? Or Gorilla tape?

I use the weights that are meant for my stairs. I fill them with pea gravel, and at the start of each season I add about a quart of bleach to each weight, and top it off with water. Lately the weights have developed some cracks so they leak. So I fill them and get them in the water quickly so the bleach does not spill everywhere.

I use a pad under mine. It's a corrugated piece of rubber, maybe 3/32" thick. Nothing too crazy

I can slide my stairs up and down in the thing I built that holds them in place. So once a week or so, I slide them up, remove the pad, and vacuum under them.

My stairs are also about 5' away from my return, and my return really flows a LOT, plus I have a SWGC. When my filter is running (2, 3 hour cycles daily) my stairs are being constantly washed over with a strong flow of highly chlorinated water.

Mine are screwed to the deck so to clean under them on a regular basis I stick my little cordless vac in the ballast hole & every time I top off the pool I put the hose on full blast & stick it in one of the holes where stuff gets trapped.
