Close enough?

Started a week ago with a brown mucky swamp.
Pool is now clear except for a little dirt that the vacuum cleans up which is more due to the pool being surrounded with dirt, mulch, trees etc.

I've been slamming for a week and here are this morning's numbers.

Total Chlorine 12.8
Combined Chlorine 0.4
Alkalinity 120
PH 7.4
Calcium Hardness 130
CYA 30

Last night the total chlorine was 14.2

So it dropped 1.4 overnight. I know the procedure says less then a 1.0 drop overnight but it was still daylight (8PM) when I checked it last night and it was 8AM this morning. It was very sunny this morning and still drizzling last night.

Sadly, no.

You've made impressive gains, so it would be a shame to have it regress. You're so close, make sure you finish it.

Perhaps keep the FC up but not quite to shock level and get in today if it's warm enough, then take it up again and repeat the OCLT tonight. And while you're in there, maybe scrub the undersides of the ladder rungs and behind the light and inside the skimmer throat, just to be sure you've got it all. Check out these links -- just the pictures.

Great job!

Up to you, but I would suggest doing one more OCLT. Wait until it is dark tonight to do your final FC test. Then get a sample before the sun hits the pool in the morning. Leave the pump running all night.

You should be using the 10 ml water sample for FC testing. Then each drop of reagent until clear accounts for 0.5 ppm of FC.

Once you are done with the SLAM, be sure to add some CYA to get to 50 ppm or so and follow the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA].

Can you add a location? Helps us know what climate you are maintaining the pool in. Go to Settings then Edit Profile (left side of page).

Thanks
